Good for kids who aren't ready for PG-13, but are getting old for most kid movies
This was a very fun movie, but you should know this as the old standards for PG. There is quit a bit of cursing like shit, bitch, damn, bastard, hell, and prick. There is suspense of starting a nuclear war, but it never comes to it. The main character gets captured and hunted by the military and FBI, but nothing bad really happens. There are talks of asexual sex, and the main character destroys his teacher with a joke( watch for yourself to know, he got destroyed). Great movie for family movie night, should watch.

Brilliant!
Ah, the good ol' days where you didn't need jump scares, blood, or horror elements to make a heart-pounding thriller. This is one of the greatest movies I've ever had the honor to see and definitely one of the most suspenseful. And the movie is about a teen who plays games on a computer, not realizing the reality of the game he plays, "Global Thermonuclear War". Highly highly highly recommend!

Cold war movie has language, but other than that it's okay for tweens.
WarGames is a 1983 drama directed by John Badham and starring Matthew Broderick, Ally Sheedy, Dabney Coleman, and John Wood.
Language(3/5): "S**t", "g****mn", "J*s*s Chr**t", "pr**k", "b**ch", "a**", "bastard", "a**holes", "piss", "damn", "d**k", "whore". and "hell".
Sex(1/5): Flirting and teenage kisses.
Drinking, Drugs, And Smoking(1/5): Tobacco use.
Violence(1/5): Peril, suspense, and fear about the missiles about to murder the world, but no actual violence.
Positive Messages(2/5): Messages about antiwar and being careful.
Positive Role Models And Representations(2/5): Courage.
Quality(opinionated): Okay. Nothing special, but decent entertainment.
(My rating)
PG-13
For language.

Exiting Cold War Film
Matthew Broderick stars in WarGames. The film is about a kid called David who hacks into game website on a computer to play a game called Global Thermonuclear war but it bombs the places in real life and they have to stop it. The only inappropriate in this film is the swearing they say S-t, Bulls-t, Hell, Damn, Ass, Asshole, Bastard, Christ, Jesus and prick. But it is a great film with a lot of suspense.

The Only Winning Move is Not to Play
This movie contains some swearing, but nothing tweens+ can't handle. The thought that the main character hacked into the system and is "sending over Russian missiles" created suspense. The two main characters kiss once or twice.
This movie is AMAZING and you should definitely watch it sometime in your life!

Great movie, just LOTS of swearing.
This movie should NOT be rated PG whatsoever (although it was in the 80’s; a lot of 80’s movies that were rated PG have bad language). This movie has a lot of swearing, such as several uses of “sh*t”, “a*shole”, “stupid”, “g*dd*mn”, “J*sus Ch*ist”, “pr*ck”, “screwed”, and more.
The profanity in this movie is about the same as Ferris Beullers day off. So if your kids have watched that, they should be able to watch this.
My MPAA rating would be: PG-13 for language throughout, some violence and tobacco use.

An engrossing movie
The main character plays a role in a very interesting plot. I think that the only bad thing about this movie is that sometimes somebody says an inappropriate word, but other than that, the movie is totally engrossing. Although it is sci-fi, the movie gives you a fun idea of what could have happened during the Cold War. Thanks for reading!

AWESOME 80s CLASSIC!!!!
Lots and lots of swearing, but really good. The movie had no F-bombs, not much violence either. I would`t say it`s all big in consumerism. They just have a couple scenes with money-like business, which I don`t even think is inappropriate if you let your kids watch Spongebob. They also once talk about sex in school in one of the scenes.

one of the best
this is one of my favorite movies and i cannot BELIEVE that people say it is full of cussing. there is no actual violence shown but is is implied. sure, there is MILD swearing but nothing sex related except in his biology class when the teacher is teaching the history of mitosis and askes "now, can you tell me, who was it that first suggested reproduction without sex" and the main character replies "um... your wife?" the teacher gets mad and sends him to the principals office. also, the supporting character is shown riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
