One hell of a scary PG-13 movie!
Okay. This movie is rated PG-13 although it is much scarier than some R rated horror movies. It is mainly scary because this could happen to anyone in any house, and the fact that the movie is not filled with guns and just sheer terror makes this one hell of a roller coaster. The scariness could be maybe 9/10. The violence is quite gross but nothing really bad, just a man gets his hand pinned to the floor by a fireplace poker (shown 100%) and Jills hair gets pulled (maybe a quarter of her hair) and is ripped off her head. The sex is nothing (many nude paintings and statues but non-explicit)and the langauge is extremely mild. Scariness 9/10 Violence 3/10 Nudity/Sex 2/10 Language 2/10 Total 16/40 Rounded 4/10

A terrifying PG-13 movie! But nothing bad,,,terrific!
When a stranger calls was a supposedly not scary movie, seeing as it only had a PG-13 rating. But this was one heck of a scary movie for a PG-13. I took my 12 year old and she loved it, but was terrified to go into her room for a few days. Violence is the only concern because a teenager stabs a man with a fireplace stick and we hear a crunch. But everything else is a PG movie material.

This was really good, i didn't see all of it though, cuz i saw it on T.V. about 1/4 of the way into the movie, but i watched the rest. the idea of it is more scary thne hte movie it's self, but it's still scary!! Now i'm a little scared when i'm babysitting at night in someone elses house. VERY GOOD THOUGH, BEST HORROR MOVIE I"VE SEE IN A LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really Scary
It scared me a lot. I couldnt sleep at night! (and I usually can after watching any horror movie) Its scary cause its real,Its not fiction, Its a human man,a human girl and a normal situation (Its not strange for a teenage girl doing babysitting) While we dont see anything scary,(no monsters,no aliens,no ghosts,no zombies...) we get scared by a man, a killer. Because we know that qe could be in that situation,that could happen in the real world. So if you get more scared by real things than with fantastic characters,you must watch this one,I dont know if the old one is better than the remake because I havent seen the old one... but I will ;)

Crazy GOOD!
When you started horror you started with the classics, you learned to stay away from neve campbell, Don't go into Glen's neighborhood or freddy's coming, but in this movie you learn to not pick up threatning phone calls. This is VERY jumpy and I repeat Very. One of the most frightning things for kids is that the killer is a big black shodowy mass that moves fast and sly which is very frightning.

Predictable thriller is still terifiying!
This movie is sooooooo predictable, but that dosen't mean it didn't scare me! has a few isues though.. 1. violence is saved for the end, with kicking,hiting and a man being stabed, it is implied that the killer did the same thing to other girls. 2. some language such as a-s, and s--t 3. a girl has a drinking problem So this is a good thriller that will have you not wanting to awnser the phone for a while!

i love this movie! i recommend it to anyone 10+! it is somewhat scary and also kind of funny (even though its not meant to be)!! i give it 4/5!! go see it if you like scary stuff!!

I expected it to be scarier and more violent. I watched it with my best friend and my little sister who is 9 years old. I think its probably fine for 9 and up.

HA! DON'T SEE IT EXPECTING TO BE SCARED!
First of all I would like to say I am fourteen, and scared extremly easily, but this didn't even scare me one bit. This movie is great for kids age 11. NO OLDER. This is not scary! If you get it for a party, or a sleepover: NO ONE WILL THINK IT WAS SCARY! Mild violence (hair pulling and a man's hand gets stabbed with a fire poker) only! Not bad! No blood! But don't get it!

Creepy!
It was sort of freaky! I saw it with my sister Sarah, my brother Eric, and my stepsisters Layla and Colette. Eric's fifteen, Colette's thirteen, Sarah and I are twelve, and Layla's eight. We all liked it, but Layla had to sleep with my mom and stepdad all night. I didn't like how he wanted her blood- he was like a vampire!

this is a great movie. if you don't like scary stories or easily get freaked out, then its not for you, especially if you babysit. but i am a babysitter and still loved it

Great movie
I am not a big scary movie person but this movie was like perfect for me. it wasn't too scary but just scary enough for me to jump like 5 times. if you don't like scary movies watch it durring the day. there arent any bad things in the movie and if you are 10+ this is probably an appropriate movie for you.

you will laugh and howl at how predictable the movie is.
I was not scared one bit by this movie. everything you see is predictable except for two parts which atre only half predictable. (spoiler) when the girl's friend dies and when the girl goes insane. basically don't watch this movie only a six year old could get scared by this. don't kill your brain cells for this movie. never see this movie. save your money just dress up in a clown suit jump into a giant aquarium amd sing the lyrics to hit me with your best shot by pat bennitar backwards. at least it will be less predictable than when a stranger calls and it might be more fun as well.

watch this movie
this movie was great although i was expecting it to me scarier.... but that might have been because i read the book so i kind of knew what was coming next.. if your a person who doesnt like scary movies but wants to see this then first read the book adn when you go to see the movie see it in broad daylight so its not dark when you get out of the theater it makes it LESS scary =)

I'm scared
This is not really is not a horror movie it is more of a thriller. This is absoulutly not for kids under the age of 10 if they wan't to babysit. It gets rather spooky but now i am never going to babtsit for my life.

Excellent movie for ages 8+
This movie scared the crap out of me, but all kids 8+ will want to see this and parents, let them. This movie is not even the smallest bit explicit. the worst thing, not to give it away, was a hand-stabbing. Barely any blood, good storyline, great actors. In conclusion, this is a very good movie!!! Two Thumbs WAY Up!!!

Pointless
When a Stranger Calls wasn't an awful film it just wasn't....scary. At all. The premise could have made a very freaky and intense movie, but this somehow isn't frightening on any level. The cat jumps out of places, the refridgerator makes noises, and the stalker finally reveals himself in about the last 15 minutes, and that's about all that happens. This almost could have been rated PG! Good for kids 11+

Scary a little
It was a little on the boarder line in some parts. Kind of creepy and very suspenseful. If you don't like those like those kind of movies then DON'T SEE IT!! But if you do then it is a must see!! I wouldn't let kids under 12 see it at all!!
