Chris Brown is an impressive 16-year-old R&B singer with a lot going for him, including great looks and a terrific voice. On his first CD, CHRIS BROWN, he concentrates on hook-heavy, sexy lyrics and a solid groove that will keep his fans dancing all night long. Influenced by an array of R&B greats including Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin, Chris Brown holds his own over the well-produced tracks.
The CD opens with a short intro paying homage to the artist's hometown of Tappahannock, Virginia and ends with a thank-you tune. The tracks in between are mostly filled with sexy lyrics about cute young women, arranged over perky dance grooves. All show off the young artist's vocal versatility and talent. Lyrics have a lot of sexual innuendo for a 16-year-old.
Highlights are the popular single "Run It – Remix" (featuring Juelz Santana), the official second single "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)," "Ya Man Ain't Me," one of the hottest singles on the album, and a "Run It" remix featuring Jermaine Dupri and Bow Wow. A talented dancer and songwriter as well as a terrific singer, Chris Brown seems to have what it takes for a long career in R&B.
