Parents need to know

Parents need to know that Britney's first single off her upcoming CD is basically about being a stripper. She opens the song with the no-nonsense "It's Britney, bitch" and continues to bring the 'tude until the last note. While the rest of the lyrics could be a lot worse, they aren't that tame either ("cameras are flashin' while we're dirty dancing" and "feels like the crowd was sayin'/Gimme more, gimme more"). The music video reinforces the stripper theme with Britney decked out in fishnets and a leather cropped jacket, dancing around a pole.

Families can talk about shock value in music. Britney is known to be provocative. Does it help her sales? Why or why not? Could she be just as sexy and fun without being so sexual?

Message

Social Behavior:

Song is basically about pole dancing.

Consumerism:

Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco:

Violence

Sex

This song is full of sexual stuff -- both direct and indirect: "Center of attention, even when you're up against the wall/You got me in a crazy position (uh huh)/If you're on a mission (ooh)/You got my permission (ooohhh)," "We can get down like there's no one around," and "Gimme more gimme more babe/I just want more." The music video features Britney half naked gyrating against a pole in a strip club.

Language

Opens song with "It's Britney, bitch."

What's the story?

Reviewed by Heidi Kotansky

"It's Britney, bitch." That's how Britney Spears starts the first single from her recent CD, GIMME MORE, and that pretty much sets the tone for the entire song. The single is a huge hit -- on the radio, on iPods, and in dance clubs -- but kids might be disappointed with the repetitive, boring lyrics (how many times can she sing the chorus?) and the lagging beat.

Is it any good?

3
Parents might be disappointed by the fact this tween/teen sensation just can't keep it clean. She even goes as far as semi-simulating an orgasm while she sings, "I just can't control myself (more)/They want more? Well I'll give them more." Not sure if we want any more.

Not about sex!!!

Sexual Content: May be percieved wrong. It's just about Brit's struggles with the media. Violence: Not an issue. Language: It's Britney b--ch opens the song. Social Behaviour: Not an issue. Commercialism: Not an issue. Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco: Nothing in the song. Video contains drinking. Gimme More ON for 13+ Awesome dance song for anyone 13 and up. Also see the album Blackout. Best thing you will ever here!!! (Gimme More is included on Blackout if you are wondering :D)

This is a bad song for kids.

Even though this song has a catchy dance floor beat, its basically about a whore dancing around a pole at a night club. If you've seen the video, she is half naked and was dancing around the pole like a slut. At the end she takes off her top. Its really bad social behavior and sex is an issue too because the whole chorus says gimme more and she's asking for more bad stuff.
