The good stuff

  • Messages:

    Message is positive. There are a few anti-sex and booze references that don't come close to preachy.
 

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

    Not an issue.

  • Sex:

    Minimal. "On the Couch" details his struggle with wanting to be in bed with a girl before they're married.

  • Language:

    Nothing bad.

  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.

  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    You don't have to indulge to party like Prince.
 

What Parents Need to Know

About Musicology

Parents need to know that while heavy on the funk of old, this album avoids the old Prince in a couple of ways. The questionable lyrics of his past are gone and he no longer tries the delicate balancing act between God and his libido (there's a little bit of the latter, but it's hardly explicit).
