What to watch out for

  • Messages:

There is a lot of teen angst -- particularly about being trapped and feeling claustrophobic ("I feel so/claustrophobic here/Watch out/now you better disappear/you can't make me stay/I'll break away").
  • Violence:

One song ("Don't Jump") talks about teen suicide, but doesn't glorify it in any way ("Somewhere out there/you lost yourself in your pain/you dream of the end/to start all over again…I scream into the night for you/don't make it true/don't jump").
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Scream

Parents need to know that while this album contains nothing outwardly offensive (no sexual content or foul language), it does cover the angst-ridden issues that affect many kids today -- broken relationships, rebellion, and even suicide and death. However, most of the lyrics aren't dark enough to be off-limits to most teens.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about teen performers. How do you think being in the spotlight affects young artists? When are kids too young to handle the pressures of being a star, or does it depend on the person? Also, are younger artists taken seriously enough or do they have to work harder to prove themselves?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this album. No Sex, no language, no talking abt killing and/or raping people, pretty good!! I definetly recommend if you like rock/pop. The most radical song is called "Don't Jump" and it's about not committing suicide but that's a GOOD message. Now the music video for "Scream" is a little radical so you might not want to watch that but overall great cd!! Plus Tokio Hotel is my favorite band. =)
