Kids who can't get enough of Pixar's Cars will be excited to hear about the Disney Channel's new cartoon shorts featuring their favorite four-wheeled characters (airtimes vary, with different installments premiering at different times).

In Cars Toons, good ol' truck Mater regales sporty Lightning McQueen with tall tales about Mater's earlier adventures -- including bull(dozer) fighting, performing daredevil stunts, screeching through the streets as a rescue vehicle, and more. Is it all true? Maybe, maybe not -- but it's all fun.

We sat down with Cars Toons co-directors Victor Navone and Rob Gibbs to talk about the shorts, their take on the media as parents, and more. Check out the video here.
