The first two season are more intelligent...
Original and entertaining (depending on the episode). I really like how the early DP episodes had Danny/Sam/Tucker THINKING THROUGH their problems (it's nice to see a normally intelligent character in a cartoon once in a while). Maybe parents would have a problem with Danny/Jazz/Tucker/Sam's frequent lying problem, but I think that Danny's parent's reaction (Hey, look! They HATE ghosts, but still love and accept their son (and are willing to forgive VLAD!!!, up to a point) after they learn he's a half-ghost. That's rather unusual for 99.9% of 'child-hides/has-fantastical-secret/power' entertainment. Harry Potter/Neverending Story, I'm looking at YOU.) makes it OK for some children. 'Misplaced aggression' could also be a problem for some parents... Danny DOES have frustrations and problems like any other child, and will sometimes take them out on unfriendly ghosts. Luckily, this is usually not portrayed positively.

Know Your Kid
Danny Phantom seems like a fine show. HOWEVER, it does deal with Danny fighting ghosts and such so you have to know your kid and what you want them exposed to. Some people might think it's weird to say I don't want my 5 year old watching ghosts on tv, but we can't ignore that some of that is really scarry for kids. Yes, Danny is the good guy fighting the bad guys (ghosts) with minimal "violence." But just because it's a show about good vs. evil, with good winning, doesn't mean that it's appropriate for all ages. I think it's a show best saved for kids over 8.

I rate this title on for age 8 and give itFinally an action cartoon the whole family can enjoy!
"Danny Phantom" is a terrific little show wrapped up in a beautiful package of lovely animation, superb writing, and exceptionally good morals and messages for kids. The show supports social diversity and positive lessons for kids, yet is still highly entertaining and fun for parents and all ages to watch. Five stars out of five. I wish there were more cartoons like this out there for both children and parents alike.

My Problem with this Review
This review has some aspects that I don't agree with. Danny Phantom is less violent than A LOT of stuff in T.V. nowadays, and A LOT more entertaining. Honestly, I don't think this show is very violent. It came out when I was six, and even though the slightest thing scared me back then, I enjoyed it. I only remember being a bit scared during The Ultimate enemy (TUE) and that was only once. I DO recall a couple death threats, but those are very rare, and this IS a cartoon about a superhero! Torture? Wrong. The only thing I've seen is electric shocks for a few seconds, and I've seen every episode at least twice! I do recall a knife, and it was never used. There has been only one sword fight, and that only lasted about ten seconds, and no one was hurt. Violence towards women? So if a ghost is trying to destroy the world, and Danny attempts to stop it, there's a problem if it's a female? The men and women are treated equally by all characters. If the ghost attacks, Danny captures it and sends it back into the Ghost Zone wheather it's female or not. You're right about one thing. There IS no opportunity to work things out. That's because some ghost is trying to kill someone!! If some guy was about to kill you, and you have no weay to escape, would you smile and say "We can work this out, buddy!", or would you fight back!? Something that you wondered about is why Danny hides his powers from his parents, because they are paranormal experts. That's true, but you missed something. His parents want to DESTROY ghosts they capture. They're his parents, but Danny's a kid. Put yourself into a kid's frame of mind. He knows that they love him, but he's still afraid that they might only see him as a ghost. Everyone's mind goes through the worst case scenario, and his seems too likely. Danny is different in his phantom form because he obviously feels more confident. No one knows who he is, and he can use many different powers. It's similar to how I'm talkative at home because I'm sure that people will listen but I'm not in public places. A weird comparison, but it'll do. To quote "Ultimately, the show suffers for giving into the violent mainstream." I don't believe this. Haven't you noticed how many kids shows seem too afraid to even be close to violent, and instead market towards little kids? I believe that Danny Phantom is a step in the right direction. Many people believe that cartoons are for kids only, but by adding more action and less mind numbing silliness, less people would have this opinion. Danny Phantom took that risk, and that's what made it so popular! Plus, you need to give kids more credit! Some kids may be scared, but most aren't. Do you think that the only thing kids enjoy is silliness without a plot? You're wrong! I was reading complicated chapter books when I was 7, and watching nothing but Animal Planet when I was five!!! In short, this show isn't that violent, you has false points in your review, and kids are smarter than you thin. Now, I shall leave this site that encourages age descrimination.

I wish that the show wan't over...
Danny Phantom is a great show. Especially in the episodes with Vlad Masters/Plasmius and the movie with Dark Danny. The last episode was great. I wish that the show wasn't over.

This show gives me confident!!!!
I say that this Danny Phantom show is awesome. When I started watching, I found something that interested me, and still does. This is the only show that makes me even more happy. Danny Phantom isn't a volience show, it's just shows that if you want to be a police, you have to figure things out with others. Also, learning to accept your gift for who you are and show it to the world even it's weird. Danny Phantom is showing in every episodes, there's many lessons to learn from. For example from the first episode, we all eat whatever we feel like. Don't blame on each other or accept your ability that you have. I think it's a great show to catch and it should continues on NO MATTER WHAT! I love Danny Phantom! He rocks our world!

The greatest show I've seen in the past ten years!
Danny Phantom is witty, charming, and age appropriate. While Danny Phantom fights ghosts, it's - more often than not - only when his family or friends are threatened. Danny Fenton deals with problems that most teenagers face, and has the courage to stick up for his friends in school. Danny must also solve problems with his friends - in fact, in most episodes, there is a 'Phantom' storyline, and a 'Fenton' storyline, the 'Fenton' being the one that kids can relate to. Now, I personally, love this show, not for it's action and beautiful animation, but for the benefits it brings me by seeing many of the problems that I, and other kids my age, face every day.

Awesome.
I really like this show, I think it's well written and well animated. It is way better than FOP and is better than the majority of what Nick shows today... It is geared at older kids anyway, so stop complaining about violence, you're not going to get away from violence in a superhero cartoon- and we're lucky that the female and minority characters aren't cardboard cutouts.

a wonderul series
This is probably one of the best shows i have seen on nickelodeon.there is super hero action and a bit of adventure, humor, romance and all in betaween! Danny Fenton was a normal 9th grader untill his parents came upb with a new ghost invention and he accidently solipped in and pressed the button which turned him half ghost!his friends, sam and tuker are by his side fighting evil ghosts.sam, being an ultra recyclo vegetarien and goth, can help danny out his jams, which teaches kids that even opposites of people can work together as a team.and tucker, being a techno geek, can pass through any firewalls in technnology using his PDA,Danny may be confident and strong as a ghost, but as a kid, you might see that he's just another average kid.well, hes not! i recomend you watch this series before you write anything dumb like "parents are idot and mothers act like dumbys" because this show is for kids 8+ and its all about the humor!

Best Show
Actually, This is a great show, I am 12 years old and i am VERY sensitive about what i watch on T.V and I love this show, Some of the things in the common sense review were completly false, Like the violence agienst woman nonsense, I Think this show needs to stay on the air. Another thing, You picked narnia as one of the best rated shows, It was on the PG13 end of PG and had much more Scary violence then Danny Phantom, I liked narnia but i think your ratings are weird saying it has less violence than Danny Phantom. -Eye of Neut

...
This show may be a bit violent, but it is all superhero violence that kids would never be able to imitate. Plus, each show has a good message in it.

Parents have nothing to worry about in this cartoon.
You have nothing to worry about if you let kids around the age of 9 watch Danny Phantom. There are a few points in the Common Sense Review that I found to be either untrue or such a small problem it's not even worth worrying about. 1) The death threats in this show aren't strait-forward, and considering the fact that if a character dies in this show they turn into a ghost I don't think it's anything to spend too much time complaining about. 2) The closes thing to torture in Danny Phantom was shocked because he was wearing an anti-ghost belt. 3) The only knives I saw in this show were used in the kitchen, not as weapons. 4) The violence is just fight between ghost hunters and evil ghosts. They never shown blood, just ectoplasm (the chemical ghosts are made of). The violence against women as stated in the common sense media review is the same towards men. A ghost will be sucked into a thermos and placed back into the ghost zone. To do this Danny just simply knocks the ghost off-balance.

Pretty good!
Its kinda a 5050 good if you ask me but it is actually well written and good. I watch a few episodes every now and then. By the way, the do NOT sell women short! As everyone whos seen this knows that Danny DOES have a friend thats a GIRL and not much violence, well actually their is a bit but, not noticed by me! Yes, we all know that he fights ghosts but, he is protecting his world from doom. As a matter of fact, Danny said this exactly, "I am not fighting you." in one episode. In conclusion, their is nothing wrong with Danny Phantom.
