Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 14–18

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Dice is a mixed bag. He seems to be a loving father and partner, but his humor is sexist and immature. His older material contains some racist elements.
  • Violence:

Some heated arguments between Dice and his fiance. He sometimes insults his friends.
  • Sex:

Some of Dice's material is highly sexual and misogynistic, though most of it ends up being bleeped.
  • Language:

Almost non-stop foul language, though almost all of it is bleeped.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

Dice is a famous cigarette smoker, though he appears to have quit. Instead he carries an unlit cigarette as a prop.

What Parents Need to Know

About Dice Undisputed

Parents need to know that this reality show follows comedian Andrew Dice Clay's attempt to revive his career. His material is highly sexual (and, many would say, sexist). His early material, which is shown in clips, contains potentially offensive jokes about women, sex, and relationships. He's also famous for smoking cigarettes ravenously -- though he doesn't appear to smoke currently, he carries an unlit cigarette with him most of this time. His relationship, which is featured prominently in the show, seems loving though tumultuous; he and his fiancé argue heatedly and without mature, healthy resolution. Also, foul language flows freely (though most of it's bleeped).

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the appeal of Dice's humor. Who do you think it appeals to most? Why? Do you find him funny? What are the central elements of his jokes and humor? Do you notice a contrast between his comedy routine and his home life? If so, what do you think about that? How is he similar to and different from other "comeback celebrities" who've had reality shows (Danny Bonaduce, Tom Sizemore, etc.)?
