What’s the Story?

Reviewed by KJ Dell Antonia

DYNOMUTT is the Batman-like saga of the Blue Falcon -- the superhero alter ego of millionaire Radley Crowne (voiced by Gary Owens) -- and his robotic sidekick Dog Wonder, known undercover as Dynomutt (Frank Welker). When alerted by the Falcon Flash, these two report to save Big City. The catch is that Dog Wonder couldn't save a banana from a paper bag, and the Blue Falcon is in as much danger from his canine companion as he is from the villains. But the tolerant Blue Falcon goes along with Dog Wonder's crazy schemes to capture the villain of the hour -- which always have disastrous results -- before coming in to save the day.

Is It Any Good?

Dynomutt is funny and silly in the finest tradition of the old-school "this is the only time all week that you get to watch cartoons and eat sugary cereal, so enjoy it" Saturday mornings. Even jaded viewers of today's sophisticated action 'toons will laugh at Dog Wonder's goofy plans and ridiculous robotic abilities, with stoic straight man Blue Falcon as his foil. It's not on that often, so be sure to catch it when you can.
