Negativity invades kids' take on Survivor.

Why We Rated This on for Ages 8 and Up

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Contestants work in teams of two and must display traits like courage, perseverance, and trust to succeed. Although contestants are usually supportive of one another, there's occasionally some back-biting among the groups, as well as gripe sessions for the camera. Some bad sportsmanship as well.
  • Violence & scariness:

    Not an issue.
  • Sexy stuff:

    Some mild flirting among contestants.
  • Language:

"Kick butt" is as bad as it gets, and even that's rare.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Endurance

Parents need to know that this reality show for kids features teen duos who face off against each other in physical and mental challenges. Teams who lose the battles are sent home at the end of each episode, and on-camera interviews can get a bit nasty with finger-pointing, gossip, and questioning of other contestants' tactics. Just like its obvious inspiration, Survivor, while the show celebrates physical strength, mental stamina, and strategic teamwork, it also devotes a disproportionate amount of camera time to the contestants' personality conflicts and shaky alliances. Suspense and drama make the show hard to turn off, but the negativity is best filtered by a parent.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the concept of sportsmanship. What makes a good loser/winner? After a loss, how do you feel about yourself and your competitor? Is it more important to win or to try your best? What type of behavior are we teaching kids by having them compete on reality television? Does this show make your kids want to be on TV?

    Perfect show

I used to love this show. I can't wantch it anymore, because I don't have the channel anymore. It is filled with drama, and this is why it is so interesting. I loved the season when the purple team and the green team made an alliance, since the girls were friends.

This is the best show that any teen can watch. Instead of filling my head with violence sex language and soo much more i get to see real Teenagers just being teens, getting there competitive faces on and really learning about themselves. I miss it and can't belive they even considered cancelling it. I only have one more chance to Audition they must save this show!

    The Greatest Show on Earth!!!

I started watching this show when I was 7 years old and I'm still watching it now!!! There are some parts where the players "like" each other, but that's human nature right??? It's the teenage version of "Survivor" obviously. The host might get on your nerves a little, and some seasons are better than others. The top 3 season recommendations from me are E1 for the drama, E3 for the confusing alliances, and E5 another dramatic season. Anyhow, this show is AMAZING!!!
