Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that surgeries are filmed in each episode of this heartwarming series, which means that there are sometimes graphic, albeit brief, operating table scenes. Also, young children may not be able to grasp some of the series' intricate medical speak.
Families can talk about the lives of the people on the show before and after their surgeries. Was the medical risk worth it? If you were ill and were on the receiving end of a life-saving procedure, what personal changes might you make once you were better?

Each week, ABC's hour-long reality show MIRACLE WORKERS takes viewers behind the scenes as two people with severe medical problems are given the chance to have cutting-edge -- but risky -- surgery to potentially fix their ailments.
Often these patients do not have the money for or access to these procedures on their own. But with the help of a team of renowned doctors, their lives are transformed as they undergo revolutionary new treatment that ultimately restores their health. Viewers get an up-close glimpse of what life is like for these people before their surgeries, the emotional toll their families endure, the consultation with doctors, and the operation itself.
Miracle Workers is feel-good fare the family can watch together. The featured patients are inspiring, and kids will relate to the pain that sisters and brothers and mothers and fathers feel when they see a loved one suffering. While the show's outcome is almost always positive, young viewers who can stay up late enough to watch will be enthralled by the dramatic suspense that the producers pack into every episode.
