To be honest, this show is a breath of fresh air in the land of TV crime drams. The plots are refreshing rather than repetetive, and don't depend on the headlines to make a story. The characters however, are what makes it. They're interesting and play off each other wonderfully, and kids are sure to pick out people in their own lives who "fit the mold" of leader or partner. It's not so much stereotyping as it is providing characters whose role is grounded more in a fictional world than trying to be "real". Some parents may be concerned about the sexual content and launguage used in the show, but often times, kids will hear much worse from their friends at school, so it's an oppurtunity to talk to them about why that kind of language or behavior isn't appropriate for them. The show regularly deals with recurring themes of family, loyalty, trust, and teamwork, and each of the characters have good values and morals and believe in their work. There are also "the rules" which is something like an informal moral code the agents follow. NCIS is also a very diverse show. The agency is portrayed as having a African-American director, one of the main characters is devoutly jewish, and another is Italian. The criminals come from different backgrounds and the reasons for their actions rarely fall back to race. Despite the sometimes sexsist attutudes on the show, it goes to lenghts to show that women can be smart, strong, powerful, and respectable people without being sex objects. In the current season, there has been a subplot dealing with one of the characters becoming a US citizen and what the process entails, both officially and emotionally. The respectful and honorable way that NCIS deals with the military and counterterrorism, especially in these times, is also commendable. Becasue of the show's "crime" theme and sometimes inaaproprate content, I'd reccomend this show for children ten years and over, though some episodes are okay for younger children, at parents' discretion.

Perfect for Pre-teens +
NCIS is a show with action but also humor. It may have some bloody scenes and some gun fights, but it isn't a horrible show.

I've let my kids watch most episodes of NCIS. I usually preview first if it's a PG14. I'll sometimes restrict it. To be honest, the violence doesn't bother me too much. What I like about this crime drama over so many others, is that the people have integrity and honor. They care. Too often today the bad guys win anyway. Not on NCIS. One character is a very smart goth with a heart of gold. One is an ex-marine who lost his wife and child to a murderer. One is an Israeli working with US navy employees. Other characters are also quirky which makes the show funny. The show has some stereotyping but it seems to promote story lines that actually break those down. Promoting hard work and science is always a good thing. Overall I see the show as positive.

As an adult, I really enjoy this show but will change the channel quickly when my children enter the room. Too violent for younger teens.

This is simply the best show ever.
This is a crime investigation show but the reason why most people who watch this show is because of the characters and the main theme of the show. I would not recommend this show for children under the age of 12.

Great Characters -- Horror Film Plot
The characters and actors are above average in this crime investigation program. Unfortunately, I can no long watch them due to the graphic use of violence and horror film plot lines. I usually think I have a strong constitution, but this show is too much for me. Avoid it.

Great drama with comedy for 13 and older
I love this show! This one of the most original crime drama shows I've watched. There are interesting case but the comedy is what makes the show. It's the funny moments and interactions between the characters that makes it special and interesting to watch. You can count on the fact that there would never be an episode that you would get bored watching. And of course the murder, kidnapping, etc are well written too. And yeah there are violence, it's a crime drama, it has to have violence. And sexual contents? Well most of the time it's just flirting but sometimes there can be graphics that won't be appropriate for younger kids. And honestly the language aren't that bad because it has never said anything that I haven't already heard in school. The characters are original and there are good messages in this show. Here's what I think- it's a must see for older kids since it's a crime drama with lots of comedy and parents don't really need to make sure of anything because truthfully the younger kids can never sit through an episode of this. They will get bored. Those who can understand it and enjoy it are probably all old enough to be able to handle the violence and other contents. Except for one of the few episodes like Undercovers, I'd say anybody above 10 who likes it should be fine but because of those episodes I will say I will recommend this for 13 and above. So for those who haven't watched this yet, try it out.

perfect for most likely 10-11 +
this does have some non-appropriate stuff yea i agree but im 10 turning 11 soon and ive watched it almost all my life .....i have never been affected by it yes it does have grousome things i know but i would think if you can handle watching CSI or LAW AND ORDER....or even Elmo today you could watch MOST eps. of NCIS now some i wouldnt recommened for someone under 10-11 but if you could handle the grousome features and language or the thing DinNozZo or Ziva or even "ducky",abby, jenny or McGee says then i think it would be OK if you have a parent watching it with u! but you must remember this tv show is based on a real agency and i could inspire you to do things you wouldnt imagine doing! and i even once thought of going to war because of ncis.....now i would NEVER approve how "abby" dresses for young adults but someone who likes crime/mystery shows MUST see NCIS....i would recommend that a child does NOT watch the ep. "undercovers" because of sexually graphic language and some of what how they act.....a quote like (ziva knees him) "now that was definatly NOT your knee" i would not recommened that ep. or some more rare eps which they RAREly show often but i do approve because it is a real agency and teachs some younger kids what the real world is like and what happens each day

WATCH THIS SHOW NOW
Okay, so, yes, there is some "not so good" talk. But I would still recommend this movie. It is my most favorite show ever! The characters are simply awesome. There is Leon Vance. Who I may say is kind of like a President. (I hope he disapears!) I think he is a bad guy! There is Agent Gibbs (the head leader)Who has been married like four times. But he is the best leader you will ever see! And he is kind of like a dad to his team. Then there is Tony Dinnozo who is second in command. And, well, he is the funny one. He always has a comment for something, even though sometimes others would like him not to. Then there is Ziva, who is an Israli. Working for her father, and for NCIS. She is pretty much rock solid. No one can stop her. And she can beat every body (MEANING EVERYBODY) up. She is also a little sweet on Tony.(Which Tony is kind of sweet on her to)(They just don't show it) Then there is Special Agent Timothy Megee. (also known as "megeek' or "Megoo") He is the computer genius. Who likes Abby. Speaking of Abby I will tell you who she is....She is a Goth. But the sweetest down to earth goth you will ever meet. She can never stay mad at someone, and she cares. She is the scientist of the show. She acts like she doesn't like Megee, but she gets jelous every time he gets a date. Then there is "Ducky" Also know as Dr. Mallerd.(Ducky get it?)lol. Anywho, he is a docter. He disects dead people. The funny thing is he talks to the dead people like they were alive. Then there is also many other characters, but these that I listed are the MOST important ones! So watch it or you will miss out of this 5 star rated show!

Perfect for teens just not tweens
I love the show but to tell u the truth people tony talks way to sexual for the kinds under the age of 14. Only because kids are immature and some are to young. As a teenager other than that the show is great. They give very good messages and role model and teaches u science forensics and autopsy.
- I rate this title on for age 12 and give it
Great show
This is my #1 favorite show of all time! It doesn't have the blood/gore of CSI, more in-depth charcters of the Law and Order, and not swear words as bad as In Plain Sight. They do swear, don't get me wrong, but no F or S words or uses of GD. Also the charcters are really set this show apart. They are very indepth and we continue to learn about them during the seasons. They're all quite different but yet work quite well toether, forming a family like bond. In a nutshell: Great show!

Great show, not as bad as you'd think
Unlike many crime shows, this one doesn't seem to have as much blood and gore. Because it's a cop show, it will have some, but compared to CSI: Miami (the only other one I've really watched) it is VERY tame. They even blur out the body parts in autopsy! The only real "bad" role models are Tony and the terrorists and such, but good role models make up the rest of the cast. There is some bad language, but it seems pretty rare to get any more than "D***!". There are iffy episodes, such as some with terrorists, or the "Under Covers" episode, in which Tony and Ziva have to play an in-love couple at a hotel. Overall, though, it's very good.

ON FOR 12 AND +
I personally love this show, its good role models, humor and crime solving is great. the characters really make the show stand out. for example Ziva David one of the NCIS agents is beautiful, funny and strong. there is not much sexual stuff in the show. except for tony and zivas sexual tension and one episode were Ziva and Tony go under cover as assasins (they are under cover and under covers hence the name of the episoed "under covers") there is not that violence, the bodys can be gruessom and disturbing, but other than that there isnt that much blood.

Great show for teens! Just watch with discretion =)
Okay, aside from Tony having obvious flirtatious and sexual behavior, the show is very good! It shows women in a workplace often dominated by men, and uses actual terminology such as "Mas Spec[trometer]", "algorythm" and "balistics", which can be question-starting topics for kids. The characters are pretty good role models, and some of their more quetionable quirks aside [sex as a tool, sleeping with a gun, etc.] make for a dynamic and entertaining show!

NCIS Is One Of The Greats Out There
This other reviews are rubbish so let me say it....the show is great, and I agree with hotgoth13 NO REALLY?! Of course there's violence hence the show's name NCIS stands for NAVAL (Military) CRIMINAL (Violence no duh) Investigative Service, there has been a few military suspects (The kid with the bomb at the Quantico Academy?). There's been plenty of scenes where the Federal agents pull out their weapons and start firing back at suspects, but there's not much gore, just pools of blood. It doesn't spew all over the place. I like how Gibbs is a marine, and they put Semper Fi to all the Marines out there in a black background at the end of an episode, which I thought was great because it's a way of saying thank you to all our military , or Navy and Marines particularly....all in all great show...can't what for the next season!
