What’s the Story?

SHANNA'S SHOW isn't really a show -- it's a five-minute animated interstitial that runs a couple of times each day, just after a typical-length program ends and before another begins. Shanna is a little girl who, with her brother Shane, puts on a "show" for their stuffed animals. In each episode, the kids demonstrate a certain job -- such as a dentist or a baker -- and give the audience hints about that profession. As the clues mount, Shanna and her brother encourage viewers to guess. At the end of the five minutes, the kids reveal the profession and the episode ends.

Is It Any Good?

The clues are basic enough that many kids will be able to guess the featured profession by the time all of the clues are given; those who can't guess will have a good time learning. These five minutes are lively and full of upbeat singing -- and provide a good conversation starter about what jobs kids might want someday. And it's commendable that Shanna acts out all kinds of jobs without regard to traditional gender roles.
