What’s the Story?

Reviewed by Lucy Maher

In STILL STANDING, a blue-collar Chicago couple navigates raising their three kids while still making time for each other. Judy (Jami Gertz) and Bill Miller (Mark Addy, an Englishman whose American accent has its ups and downs...) are high-school sweethearts who want to be "cool" parents to their three kids. Outspoken teen Lauren (Renee Olstead) wants nothing to do with her parents, while big brother Brian (Taylor Ball) is discovering girls. The youngest, Tina (Soleil Borda), is oblivious to the hubbub surrounding her -- to which Judy's sister Linda (Jennifer Irwin) contributes by clashing with Bill.

Is It Any Good?

Like many sitcoms of its ilk, such as According to Jim and Everybody Loves Raymond, Still Standing engages audiences by creating silly scenarios with a happy ending. Nothing really sets it apart from the crowd, but Still Standing is a lighthearted sitcom that older tweens and young teens will likely find entertaining -- though, in the era of reality TV, older teenage viewers will most likely be bored.
