A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Adventure Beast is an animated series that spoofs wildlife shows like The Crocodile Hunter or Man vs. Wild. Led by BTG, a representation of Australian author Bradley Trevor Greive (who also does his own voiceover), a small group of adventurers observe and interact with wildlife in each episode. The characters tend to get into difficult comic situations with animals, leading to injury and death, but the show also consistently features weird and interesting wildlife facts.

What's the Story?
Adventure Beast follows the exploits of BTG (Bradley Trevor Greive), a sort of wildlife mad scientist whose favorite way to learn about animals is to get close to them by dressing up like an animal. With his bold niece (Denice Cabanela) and timid assistant (Josh Zuckerman) along for the ride, BTG immerses himself deep in the wilderness, and often has to claw his way out.
Is It Any Good?
A good satire lives and dies on the sharpness of its jokes; unfortunately, this series works incredibly hard to get laughs without a real idea of what is actually funny. Adventure Beast attempts to thread the needle between a spoof of high-octane adventure shows like The Crocodile Hunter and Man vs. Wild and an actual source of strange-but-true facts about wildlife. Instead of leaning into Bradley Trevor Greive's actual, interesting knowledge and experience, it makes a joke out of it -- and a dull one at that.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about wildlife. How are animals presented on Adventure Beast? What are some of the obvious differences between the cartoon and real life? In which ways does Adventure Beast portray animals realistically? Did you learn anything about wildlife throughout the show?
How is BTG's recklessness used for comic relief throughout the show? How does he approach safety? How do the other characters contrast with this approach?
Does Adventure Beast seem to have a point of view on conservationism? If so what is it?
