My son of four has been hooked on Ben 10 and I've noticed a whole lot of negative changes in behaviour and language. Now slowly trying to wean him off it until he's older.

Wish the kids weren't mean to each other... boys love the aliens.
boys loved it, but started getting sassy and talking to each other like Ben and Gwen do. We'll wait until they are 7/8.

ben 10
my son loves this show! All i have to do is to explain to him that it's not real and it will never be real and that seems to do the trick. he never thinks it's real because it's a cartoon. he seems to have no trouble with this show at all and that's what makes me happy.

Awful Awful Awful
My 6 year old watches this at his fathers house and comes home and has nightmares at bedtime. When he is in school he is getting into fights with the kids by pretending that he is ben 10 and physically harming others. As a concerned mother,..NOT A GOOD SHOW FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.

Very disturbing - Not appropriate for young children
My son, who just turned five, has been into Ben 10 for a while. He has some Ben 10 toys, including the watch. And he spends a lot of time with a friend at pre-school pretending they are Ben 10 etc. As his father, I have to admit that I haven't really paid much attention to the show. His mother has watched some of the episodes with him, I wasn't thrilled by some of the things he was telling me about the show and the various characters - it just sounded kind of low-class and thoughtless, but I didn't get really worried about it until last night. As he got ready for bed my son told me that he had seen something on the show that bothered him and made him feel very bad. He told me that there was a scene in which a cook who is preparing some food removes ear wax from her ear and adds it to the food. I couldn't believe that this kind of "entertainment" would be set before our young children by a major network and I thought my son must have been mistaken about what was happening in the scene. But it turns out he was right. The scene occurs in an episode called "A Chance of Face". From the "recap" page at tv.com (http://www.tv.com/Ben+10/A+Change+of+Face/episode/922189/recap.html): "In the cafeteria of the prison, it is lunch time, and Gwen is given a tray of yellowish goop. She asks the server if they have anything that’s organic, and the lunch lady gives her something that “she’s grown herself.” She sticks a finger inside her ear and mixes the earwax into her already disgusting food. The lunch lady tells her that she has more and should come back for seconds." How many parents would think that this kind of gross image is good for young children? Especially young kids who are still learning about what kinds of food are good to eat. Of course this show is rated TV-Y7, which means it might not be appropriate for kids younger than 7. But so is "Transformers" which does not contain this type of disturbing images. And of course the Cartoon Network knows that very young children are inevitably going to be exposed to the show and become absorbed in it, just by the times of day when they show it. So that's how much they care about our kids. A word to the wise: This show is not right for young children. Besides the violence there are very disturbing plot lines and images.

Not appropraite for children under 10.
I watched the Cartoon Ben 10. The standard rating in NZ is PG (Parental Guidance Recommended for younger viewers) noted on the DVD cover: Low level violence. I viewed a great deal of violent acts, which I deemed not suitable for a ten year old. Also I was concerned with the behavioural attitude of the main character Ben 10. His lack of respect for adults and siblings was not “cool” it simply showed poor writing and poor role modelling by the creators of the show. Simply put, I will not be letting my son watch and imitate this poorly constructed cartoon show. Something to ponder! Interesting facts: Effects of TV Violence on Kids http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/yourchild/tv.htm * Children ages 8-12 years who view violence are often frightened that they may be a victim of violence or a natural disaster. * Scary-looking things like grotesque monsters especially frighten children aged two to seven. Telling them that the images aren't real does not help because kids under age eight can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. * Symptoms of being frightened or upset by TV stories can include bad dreams, anxious feelings, being afraid of being alone, withdrawing from friends, and missing school.

I felt uneasy
I have always been against censorship and have been liberal with my views around it with my kids. This show however has blown that out of the water. If there is a moral to it for me, it would be that this is a show that shows children a good example of survival for a hostile unsafe world if my kids had super powers but it teaches nothing about healthy everyday interaction with others especially between siblings. I feel fear and pain around the show and concern about the standards of social interaction it sets for my 7 year old son.

This is a wonderful action packed show for all ages
I used to never allow cartoon network in my home. When my 4 yr old decided he wanted to "BE" Ben10; I thought NO WAY! So I began watching this show.It may have some violence, but if you teach your child right from wrong, you need not worry!!

This show is much to violent for children. I cannot imagine any parent permitting a young child to watch this show. Maybe this is why so many children have violence issues.

A good fantasy cartoon.
Ben can be very annoying and have a bad attitude at times but he always pulls through and can admit when he is wrong. There is mild violence and some of the aliens Ben morphs into may be a little scary but even when we changes, he still talks like the goofy 10 year old he is.Plus, in every episode, there is always a moral. Good stuff.

- Excessive consumerism
Walk into a Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, or Target, there's an entire shelf of Ben 10 toys, pretty strange that the toys came out befor the show isn't it? Pokemon hardly has any toys, but apparently it's full of marketing! In the words of a senator 'you lie!'

Its a pretty good show!
I caught this show when i was looking after my little cousin (9 years old) who absolutely LOVES it. He has a little watch and everything. Anyway, what I saw was pretty good. Nice and exciting, with plenty of fighting and action but also following a very solid plotline. The action sequences remind me of 'Teen Titans'. It's the same kind of 'throw things, shoot stuff and not get seriously hurt' formula that so many cartoons follow. However, one thing I noticed was the intensity of the fights. They were generally darker than many action cartoons, often with people in danger of losing their life etc. One particular villain tries to crash a passenger subway train with a train containing money, thus killing everyone on board. He gets stopped obviously, but he shows no remorse or regret towards almost killing many people. So parents , heed my warning; make sure to explain to very young kids that the cartoon isn't real, and there is no chance of the situation happening in real life. Thanks for reading.

An action Packed Adventure!
In this series, a boy named Ben gets a watch that can turn him into ten different aliens. There are such villains such as Vilgax, Kevin 11, and Charmcaster. The evil Ghostfreak (that's not in the watch anymore) may be to scary for younger kids.
