This show has no substance. It's just a group of dumb, annoying boys who get themselves in ridiculous situations. The humor is lame and typical. The only thing I like is a few of the songs are really catchy. They should go into music and stay away from the acting. HOWEVER I will say that they did a good job of not adding anything inappropriate. The only reason I rated this as a show for 10 and up is because I think younger kids would find it boring. It mostly has to do with teenage boys lusting after teenage girls and trying to get teenage girls. *yawn*
I'm probably too old, but I quite enjoy this show. I think that all though the boys get into some questionable situations (they usually get themselves into) the most positive message through the whole show is sticking together, and friendship is really a big positive message for them.
The concerns I have are minimal, one of them being the safety issue, especially with Carlos (the latino with the helmet) as he's usually getting into very bruise=worthy situations.
As for my concerns with user content, the Nick web page of course is always kid friendly, but be mindful of the younger kids online, because some of the fans have some... questionable content involving the four boys in quite intimate situations with each other. Though I doubt they could find it, unless perhaps specifically looking for it.
Otherwise I'd say the show itself is fantastic. It's got some slight humor for the older kids, that may go over younger heads, and enough slapstick funny comedy for those at a younger age. Not to mention the songs are very well done, and something I think even a parent could enjoy hearing in the car multiple times while their kids enjoy.
i have to agree with Stape's review below, why is this rated for 8 and up when it is about teens doing teen things e.g. chasing girls/crushes/kissing. not what an 8 year should be relating to. Please stop the "tween" myth!!!! 8 year olds are 2nd graders not middle schoolers! children not pre-teens! whoa steppin down from the soapbox sorry
The show really is not bad and I don't mind my kids watching it. I am frustrated that all "age appropriate" shows for 7 and 9 year old boys are about the lives of teenagers. My son complains all of the time that we treat him like a baby and he can't wait until he is a teenager...shows like this do NOT help. Why can't anyone make a show with, for and about grade school kids???
On the other hand, I don't think any teenagers would watch this because it is so unrealistic and hokey. During the episode I watched the boys had an unapproved "get together" that turned into a blow-out bash. Let's just say things turn out differently for most 15 year olds who have parties when their parents are out of town. Why does my 7 year old need to see this?
Wow. Just... I demand to know who wrote the script! It was just so BAD. The lines were unrealistic, as were the characters. And just to put it out there: WHAT IS WITH ALL THE SOUND EFFECTS?!? They were very annoying. Just because they're singers, doesn't mean they can have their own show! (As we can all see: no acting skills what-so-ever for the main characters.) Wow, Nickalodeon just keep dwindling. I'd say "Big Time Rush" is more suitable for Nick Jr. It'll keep the naive little kitties busy.
My daughter loves this show. She watches it all the time. It teaches good lessons and funny story lines. Its also a good enough show that I enjoy watching with my kids!
This show is for tweens or older.....it has an overall acceptance of sexual relations....even though it is mild...it is still inappropriate for children under 12 years old.
I thought it was blah at best. Poor role modeling by the boys, especially in the last episode where one has to "pee in the managers desk drawer" to show he's a bad boy. Give me a break! It's too bad, because I think the boys are pretty good actors, but the show is just badly written and too slapstick.
this is actually a very good show im an adult a 26 year old woman and i love the show just as kids and teens do i mean there a boy band thats nice im glad Nick has a show like BTR Logan is sooo cute! i just love him so much!
It's alright! Too martialistic! It's not even real!:( Well I like the relationships, but they need to show the ones without relationships so everybody knows it's not all about relationship!:) They do show quite a few products!:( They show you how to live your dreams!:)
This show is great, featuring four adorable hockey playing friends. A bit unrealistic, yes, but this show has a lot of 'chasing your dream' in it. What I think parents are overlooking is the sexual behavior. Especially in the reality TV episode, Logan and Camille (the nerd and the actress) had many kissing scenes, even though it was just for reality TV. I swear, some of the kisses weren't even PG. At one point, Logan put his hand under Camille's cardigan. I would just warn parents who have children with access to internet and who enjoy this show not to let them on youtube, as Kendall has recorded some questionable songs, and I was shocked to hear and has dirty lyrics. Otherwise, a for the rest of the boys, they seem a bit cleaner, though I have seen pictures them holding beers and topless.
Truly brilliant band but they can be very inappropriate.
This show is so good! But it's diffidently not for kids under 11 or 12; The boys are always chasing girls and trying to flirt with "The Jennifers." In the episode Big Time Reality Logan and Camille kiss so much!
The band in real life can be very inappropriate. I would not let your children watch any interview of them. In one interview the interviewer made Carlos' voice sound like he was drunk and started talking about perverted older men and "cougars". In another interview Carlos calls Megan Fox "bad-***." Also in an interview James says, "huge-a** lines." In many of Kendall Schmidt's YouTube covers he swears. Kendall also wrote a song called, "The P***y Song" which is on YouTube.
These four young men have true talent and will go very far in their career. I recommend this show for pre-teens and teenage girls.
This show reminds me of Ned's Declassified (School Survival Guide) with its off beat humor and rather predictable plot lines. It is meant to be watched only for entertainment (not educational purposes). Usually I would tear a show like this apart: James can't sing, Logan and Camille's romance is predictable and outlandish, James tries way too hard with girls, and Carlos is just....pointless sometimes, but this show is very tolerable for me. The music isn't awful and is hypnotically catchy. I don't like Gustavo or his assistant, but the show is not too horrible. The boys can't dance and act only a little better than they dance, but the antics are entertaining enough.
