horrible language and sexual innuendos
This was so disappointing. The language is horrible, with multiple misuses of Jesus' name, h*, f*, sh*, a*, pu*, and so many more; underage drinking, constant sexual innuendos. I got as far as Season 1, Episode 7 and finally had to stop, mostly due to the horrible (and unnecessary!) language. So disappointed, I wanted to be able to watch this and recommend it to others, but no can do.

Totally inappropriate rating.
Extensive displays of underage drinking, excessive references to sex, sexual situations, racial inuendoes, and strong language make this totally inappropriate for children under 16. There's no nudity so that keeps me from going for 17+. It's irresponsible to assign Cobra Kai to include a totally inappropriate age group so that Netflix gets a wider audience to watch and therefore higher rankings and greater revenue. I really wanted to enjoy Cobra Kai with my 13 year old girls but after watching the first 2 episodes by myself they have been informed that its on the list of shows that they'll wait a few more years to see. With that said, as an adult oriented program it is among my favorite shows and I write this review wearing a Cobra Kai t-shirt because there is no mercy in this dojo!

Teaches Kid Ultraviolence
First season I thought this might be a fun nostalgic show. It has boiled down to glorifying ultraviolence and teaches children to resort to that, as a means of dealing with your problems, or as using them as an excuse. The language, sexual content, bullying, racial slurs. It required far less when the original Karate Kid movie came out, to get an R rating and they never would have allowed children in such a show. This in no way represents what the original was about, but more like how godawfully psychotic it was becoming when the 3rd one came out with a grown man hopped up on drugs, terrorizing a teenager. So sad that everything on TV today needs to be miserable, violent and sadistic, to be on TV. If this was a lighthearted comedy that made ya laugh and for just 30 minutes. It made you forget about the sick stuff that was going on in society. It would of been cancelled. Instead, it demonstrates what is wrong with society, and how hollywood feels the need to not only promote it, but exploit children to make money on it. Don't let a healthy minded child watch this garbage. Equivalent to taking them down to the docs and watching hobos shiv each other

Racist, misogynistic show. NOT for teens.
My teen boys and I all love the Karate Kid series. We were excited to see so many old characters back again, but the farther we got into this series the more horrified I was. The gratuitous language mentioned by other reviewers was definitely unnecessary and should on it's own warrant a Mature rating, but the part that was truly concerning was the constant sexist behavior by the male characters. And racist language without anyone ever addressing it. I found out my younger son watch the whole series, with someone else, so I watch through the 3 seasons to find out what he was exposed to. There is constant bullying, the teenagers become increasinly more violent and out of control, without it ever really having any consequences. One teenager breaks another teen's arm on purpose and it is never really addressed. I am very disappointed by this series and by the lack of information on Common Sense Media about the toxic masculinity that is constantly referred to in the series as being "badass." The "TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT" section of this page is missing some important points to address and discuss with kids. I also have concerns about the note on the page "We think this TV show stands out for: Character Strengths" There are very few characters this show with any consistent moral character. I am concerned about the negative influence of the toxic dialogue and characters portrayed in this series.

Disappointed
I really wanted to love this show, and would have enjoyed watching it with my kids were it not for the language and sex stuff. We've seen other movies and shows with language and sex references, but this just seemed forced at times. It's one thing when it's realistic in dialogue, another when it seems scripted. Only 3 episodes in and we had enough. Disappointed

Unnecessary and inappropriate sexual innuendo
Couldn't stomach ep 4 and switched off.. extremely sexually suggestive and sexual innuendo littered throughout..I'm shocked this is deemed okay for young teens. As a parent, it's not okay for my 14yo to be watching all this sexually suggestive content as if it's appropriate for his age group..!

Disservice to the original
What a disservice. They had a chance tonight and continue great values but instead it was all about money poorly doneThe original left you feeling with great morals values uplifting to be a better person to do the right thing this was a debacle. It’s just like people needing to make money and they ruined it. As a parent trying to teach the kids the right values and uplifting morals to adhere to. this was a disservice. Actually i was so sad That producers and actors sold themselves short. took advantage of the original message of karate kid for money. On all levels it was scripted poor filmed poor the last thing our world needs is to be confused.
My opinion is you took classic with an incredible immense purpose and value that all people mean in chess shredded it apart with no morals values family values no connections you didn’t develop any of it why did I waste my time
