An OK show, a decent choice for 5+, it's not extremely good or extremely bad, but there is lots of potty humor, like "shut up" or "sucks butt" but it's basically harmless
Do NOT listen to Common Sense Media's review of this show. First of all, it shows kids that they can make a difference and that they should by all means stand up for what they believe in. Next of all, it has a cast that is extremely diverse and the fact that it contains kids from all around the world teaches kids that it is good to cooperate and tolerate each other, no matter what our background. While it does have some violence, it is NOT in the degree that the review mentions. The kids who are a part of this organization only fight against EVIL adults and it is shown that they have close relationships with their parents and love them even though they have occasional parental disagreements (an example being when one of the character's mother wanting him to give her a kiss goodbye when she dropped them off for their mission). The female members, particularly numbuh 5, are very strong women and show themselves equal to the boys in the organization. All in all, I think this show will give your kid confidence, strength, and maybe cause them to realize that it's ok to be a kid at heart.
What do you expect from Ted Turner, the same man who brought you Nancy Grace?
This program has no family values, making the adults the bad guys. These five brats say they never want to become adults? I bet Nancy Grace (from HLN, a network owned by Ted Turner, who also owns Cartoon Network) would end Codename: KND by telling those five brats that Casey Anthony is going to hunt them down.
Although it may there may be some scenes that could be disapproved of, the intent of the action is humoristic and meant for entertainment. The characters played within the story seem to act in a way that children can relate to; the kids and set as good role models, not for fighting but for their ideas. The positive message is set for making your own choices and doing whats right. Age preference should most likely be around eight or so, the only main problem may lie within the ages. A bit to violent for younger kids, but too childish for older kids.
Notes
violence-4/10
sex-not an issue
language-1/10
consumerism-not an issue
drinking, drugs, smoking-0.1/10 other than one episode with a small adult with a robotic cigar (never is lit, smoked, and is looked VERY much down upon)
messages-sometimes good sometimes bad, typically good
role models are great
The people who commented below are right on some points. First off, the review here is loaded. Common Sense, who wants to spread the hate for this show, wrote this with multiple exaggerations. It's true a tooth was spit out in one of the episodes but it was executed in a way where it doesn't bother you. I'd say that that is the least of your worries with this show. The last episode I viewed was the bra episode which is inappropriate. However, in this I will not talk about my oissue with this but instead with the subject matter. During one episode, one of the characters remarks that anyone who is not a child is evil. Now this may seem harmless, I mean, people say Hannah Montana's personality (how she is rude and selfish) is harmless but these two things are errors on parent's part. It is true, only parents can dictate what their child watches but my own mother watches stuff like Hannah Montana and likes it. It may be well and dandy for adults and other people who have matured and know what is appropriate, what is not. Children, on the other hand, will test out things. If the child on the TV got away with making fun of her parents then the child watching feels they might have a chance too. The parent is as much input as the TV. Meaning the TV is capable of planting ideas in a person's head no matter how unfavorable it is. The parent's job is to monitor this, do not keep too close of a watch because mind you children need their space too, but do not be to lenient with them. Backtalking and the like should not be accepted and putting adults down as well. Children should be taught to respect their elders not scorn them. And this is just what they do on Kid's Next Door. Children are impressionable so if you want a brat let them watch all the corrupt shows they want and run around. If let a child do whatever they want when their young it is very hard to break that habit that is why now, when they are a child, is the time to act. The child may be angry at you for this but they will get over it and will know their boundaries.
I can't believe the Cartoon Network programs this show so often throughout the day. It is even on at 7:30am! I turn it off every time it comes on. I absolutely detest thos cartoon and will NOT allow my 6 and 3 year old boys to watch this dreck. And I consider myself a pretty lenient mom. Not with this show. It has alot of disturbing images.

I've been watching Codename: Kids Next Door for the past three years and I don't agree with the "review" given.
There is violence--but it's not VIOLENCE violence. It's children violene. "WAHHH! I WILL SHOOT YOU WITH GUM BALLS OR TEDDY BEARS!" Yeah. That poses a problem all right. [/sarcasm]
Disguise adult level violence? Children don't like broccoli and always get grounded for not eating it--the “Broccoli Mines" is a way to get parents back for forcing kids to eat that food! BLECH!
The show takes common tension's between kids and adults--and makes it fun to watch! It makes you think "I remember I thought that same exact thing when I was a kid!"
R-rated violence?! *Laughs*
I suppose everything is too violent these days, right? [/even more sarcasm]
