Chill out, it's not that violent.
The violence does not deserve 4/5. It deserves 2/5 or 3/5. What do you mean "Younger viewers will be better off with Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry"? Those shows are way more violent. For the record, it is a kid-friendly cartoon. I've been watching this since I was about 7, and it NEVER frightened me.

a tad too harsh
Extremely idiotic people. I'm sorry, but if your 7 year old isn't smart enough deciding the difference between what's good and bad, then maybe you should start talking to your children more. I watched this show when I was about 7 or 8 and it didn't give me the thought of "oh treating your wife and dog poorly is good," it actually made me think "wow Eustace is a pretty bad guy, i don't ever want to be like him," I always thought courage was an amazing role model for helping out with the chores muriel would tell him to do, or saving his family, he even saved Eustace's life, meaning you should never hold a grudge against people. Yes, I do agree that there is violence, but hey there's violence in mostly all these cartoons these days. I love this show and wished they still played it. You know... all you parents really shouldn't isolate your children from all these cartoons (music, news, books, ect), in reality they're going to end up brainless little, well you know (cause they can't think for themselves). Talk to your kids before they get bored of you. One of my friend's parents were like all of you and she didn't end up so well... And even if they do, lets hope they aren't one of those christian nationalists.

Bad words.Graphic violence and explict drinking (including any kind of wine). It ended all because courage was killed by being shot by a gun in 2002.

I grew up with this show.
I personally adore this show and still watch it whenever its on. In some shows it does give out a good message like one show Eustace the grumpy farmer was cursed because he was mean and the curse was lifted when he was nice to a sad little boy and Eustace is mean almost all the time and hes always getting bad things happening to him at the end and doesn't that send a good message? That mean people should get whats coming to them. Also i like how courage really loves his owner and risks his life greatly for her and for Eustace, who treats Courage badly, and the owner Muriel is one of the nicest ladies I've ever seen in a cartoon .This show is pretty violent but the violence is way too unrealistic to be compared to possible violence in real life. Yes, this show has its pretty scary and disturbing moments the one episode of King Ramese and a scene from "Your not perfect" will live with me for a while xD. Also some episodes really touched me like "The Last of the Starmakers" thats theme seems to be how precious life is. I would definitly let my younger brother watch this show if hes not too creeped out. I think the type of violence this uses is pretty similar to older cartoons some parents probably grew up with those type of shows too. Many say this show as a child scared them to death but I know perfectly well thats never stopped them from watching it.

What?
Iffy for 11, and 12? Nuh-uh. This is one of the most violent kid shows on TV. In fact, it probably is the most violent. There is no "Exploding organs" and "Growing extra limbs" that this review is saying. The only time it shows guts is is when Courage gets scared out of his wits and sceams and a gut pops out of his mouth. In several episodes Courage get strangled. Eustace ends up getting killed in the end of the episode in the least violent way. So I say on for anyone over the age of 8.

Be careful, little eyes, what you see....
Honestly, I enjoyed the later episodes of this show. They came out with such good plots and stories that seem to touch your heart. The episode of the wishing tree just brings me to tears each time--Inspiring! Same with the episode with the ugly man who finds himself in the rain looking for a dry place to rest... Eustace treats him awfully because of his appearance, but Courage grows quite fond of him and they become good friends, they learn that even the best-looking of people can be ugly on the inside. In the show, Courage definitely shows problem-solving in most episodes, albeit the solutions may be somewhat simple, it leaves you waiting to find out what's going to happen next. The older episodes are considered weird, but most artists have creative expressions that are out of the ordinary (Tim Burton) and art is about expression and taking risks. Not everybody may like it, but I'm sure it's the feeling the writers were aiming for. I wouldn't reccommend it to young audiences, but few episodes could be safe to the little ones--Please absolutely stay away from the haunted mattress, quilting club or the fungal toe episodes -- the images could frighten children under 14.

"RETUUUUUURN THE SLAAAAAAAB"
The only real scar villains are King Ramses and Freaky Fred...and Fred's probably the best psycho ever. Really, you're scared of him, but you want to hug him at the same time...until he gets NAAAAAAUGHTY and cuts you hair off. And what bad words are YOU talking about, random reviewer? This show did provide some scares, but not too bad overall!

You forgot to label this as a 90s classic
Although this show can be a bit graphic at times, there is worse out there. Aaahhh!!! Real Monsters would be a good example. In any case, I do remember being scared by it a couple of times when I was six, but I also had scare moments from Dexter's Laboratory, Jimmy Neutron, Making Fiends, just to name a few. And this show is generally entertaining with its quirky sense of humor, but it's not the best. But seeing that Cartoon Network still then had to rise from the dust of the disgusting Hanna-Barbera, this show is actually surprisingly entertaining.

NOT FOR CHILDREN !!!!
Having a 16 year old daughter who is still TERRIFIED of spiders from the "A Night at the Katz Motel" episode kind of sums up this "children's" cartoon! My first thought is how did they get away with showing this at the supper hour?! Makes 'South Park' seem absolutely wholesome! Not for anyone!

Perfect for 13 & up, iffy for 10-13, and not recommended for 9 & down.
I liked it. Although some of the stuff on there can really freak out kids and myself at times. Like stuff that pops out that is plain scary and/or gory. The husband can be a jerk almost all the time but when you look into his past life, you start to realize that his attitude is a result of how he was raised up badly. You can frequently see his mother call him a stupid boy. Besides that, i like it. The positive message that can be a bit unnoticed is that Courage the dog constantly overcomes his fears out of love for Muriel.

cute charming show about overcoming fears to help those you love
Seriously people. I have always liked this show when i was small. I think the messages it sends are nice. Eustace is mean to courage but there is no instance i can recall that courage tried to get revenge. He loves his little family and saves them despite any danger to himself. The violence can be a bit much but its just fake things that kids of an appropriate age can understand. Eustace was treated badly by his mother and his brother which may explain his attitude. Though at the end he always pays in some silly way. Muriel is by far a great caring person. She loves courage and despite eustaces treatment of her she tries to help him overcome challenges such as when hes sick in one episode.. Courage never scared me that much when i was younger and made me laugh. Even now i put it on after school to watch its charming and loving hero prevail over his fears to help those he cares about. No offense to some parents and the writers to these reviews but you need to realize kids have to face the world some day. Not everything is rainbows and unicorns who always show love and never become angry or violent in their lives.

Weird and Scary
I was kind of scared of this show when I was younger. There's a lot of violence (even though it's a cartoon) and Courage's owner's husband scared me because he was so mean. I guess some kids can handle it, though. I'm not scared of it anymore, but it seems weird.

Very cute kid-friendly toon
Alright, Shows Like: Adventure Time, Regular Show or The Boondocks, are all way more violent, and they got a 2/5 or 3/5 and this got 4/5, It's fantasy, and placed for laughs so It should have a 2/5, I love it I grew up with it, so CSM, Let me review sometime
