Dont let your kids watch it
Criminal minds is usually on late at night, its not on the air for kids. Parents should be able to control what their kids watch anyhow, so if you dont want your kids watching it then turn the channel dont take it off the air!

Not for Children!
I love the show. But in would never let my child watch it! Talk about taking away your child's innocence! Any parent who let's their child watch this is giving in to media pressures. I notice that most of the reviews are from children and teens. They should not be the ones to say! Parents, wake up!

Perfect for 16+
I absolutely adore this show myself, and so does my oldest (17). It's a brainy show, but only for the older ones. It's a little violent, pretty gory too as they show murder, homicide, suicide, very touchy subjects. A lot of the times, the show includes sex, incest, rape as a part of the crime. It's not okay for the young ones, but I'm sure the teens will enjoy it!

Awesome show... Kinda intense.
Okay, can be very intense. I like the whole intellectual nature of it, though. My grandparents think it's going a little too far and dislike some of the recent episodes, But I like that the team really works together and has a kind of family dynamic. The idea that you need each other to get through the tough times.

Wouldn't recommend for anyone under the age of 12!
I LOVE this show! It is one of my favorite shows! I started watching it when I was 15 and I was HOOKED! I wouldn't recommend it to kids under 12. It all depends on the maturity level and tolerance of your kids. If they are very prone to nightmares and the like, definitely wait on it! If they're like I was and not easily scared, they could be okay. It has a lot of violence and other creepy and some very taboo issues. If your kids are more on the tween side, make sure to talk to them about what they have seen and answer any questions they might have about any of the issues. They need to know that many of the issues and stuff are REAL, but the cases are a combination of old FBI cases. The writers combine them to protect the identities of anyone involved in the cases. So, elements of the cases are true, just not in the EXACT way it happened.

Ok for older teens... just have to make the decision based on YOUR child
I actually like the Show Criminal Minds... yes, while it is true that some of the incidents they investigate are violent... and that is concerning... I watch WITH the kids and we talk about the different personalities of the members of the BAU... and the struggles they go thru personally (Hoch) -- My kids love Dr. Reid... and there are some strong positive role models for women... the women in the show are both sensitive, kind, and yet strong and resilient and powerful when they need to be... Also, it shows how a 'boss' can be... like sometimes Hoch is stern with Garcia, etc. So it shows intensity and also they joke.. and my kids laugh... I love the show personally.. my kids like the show a lot... but aren't keen on watching re runs... but i'll watch them!

"Mom, I want to grow up and be just like Hotch!"
My husband, my kids, and I watch this show all the time. We really enjoy seeing the team work together to catch someone. My kids have said many times "I want to grow up and be just like J.J." or "I'm going to work really hard so I can be the boss of a great team like Agent Hotchner." I really like the show and I tihnk it really gives you a good look at some of the darker sides of our reality.

this is my show!
i am beyond hooked to this show! it is a little too graphic for kids because it pretty much doesn't hold back with crime scenes and descriptions of the murders. but if your an adult who loves reading or watching about killers, murderers, or just enjoys a good mystery show, indule yourself in this show!

Too creepy for me
I loved this show when it first came out because it was so smart, but I had to stop watching it because it got so gruesome I started having nightmares.

Nightmares for weeks
This show has gotten progressively more violent with each episode. I will no longer be watching. The display of disturbing violent action -- and the characters responding to viewing violent action -- is simply gratuitous. It does nothing for the storyline or plot. I no longer trust this show.

Fantastic show but not for young kids.
It's an extremely good show but be warned...the subject matter is very disturbing. It basically shows you what goes on in the minds of insanely deranged criminals. In fact some of the episodes are so disturbing that I have to change the channel. The part that gets to me the most is knowing that the crimes portrayed on Criminal Minds are things that can happen in real life. I don't think it's a good idea to allow young kids (10 and under) to watch it. The obvious reason is because of the the subject matter...and it would also be hard for them to follow what's going on. I would say 14/15 is a more appropriate age. My daughter started watching it when she was 15 and she found it so fascinating that she now wants to become a criminal psychologist. It's one of those shows that stays with you and really makes you think.

Not suitable for Children
I find that Criminal Minds is graphically very violent, and even though the show tries to deal and expose violence it doesn’t grasp how violence can emotionally damage people lives. The writers write with a certain level of immaturity and occasionally simplify storyline into a childlike manor where the FBI are heroes and the unsubs are villains yet often plays on the notion that these unsubs are from troubled backgrounds and stressors have lead to them to become violent so it becomes a grey area as to whether the audience should feel sorry for them and doesn't quite master the understanding of what they are trying to portray. On several occasions we have seen many of the FBI experience extreme violence within their characters storylines and rather than show the consequences of the how the impact would emotionally and physically damage them the writers have left storylines half written making you question that showing the graphical side of violence is more important to the show than the emotional and a way to glorify violence.

It is a very well written an interesting show. Pretty much every episode has language, excessive violence, often in form of / accompanied by sexual assault, brutal murder, etc. Show is interesting, but can be disturbing at the real-life nature of the crimes. The show portrays the FBI having very graphic and brutal crimes committed against people.
