I have been watching CSI since I was 15. I like it, but I believe that it is somehow not good for preteens, as at this age they are thinking about what they want to be in the future and the techniques shown in this show aren't real at all.
All the other reviews will tell you how tawdry things can be in Las Vegas. It is a crime-solving procedural, so things are often violent and sensationalized. The best part of the series is how it portrays the CSI team as a "work family." There are positive male and female role models on the CSI team, as well as perfect examples of what not to do/ how not to act on the victim/criminal side. Parents should take the opportunity to discuss the motive behind various crimes, the amount of education and dedication it takes to be a member of law enforcement, and the toll working in this field can take on a person.
I am 15 and i have a very open relationship with my parents whne dealing with sex and durgs. I have no qualms with talking to them about it but, I feel akward watching CSI with my parents. The show does take place in Vegas and almost very show there is something dealing with sex in it and there is almost always a scene or two of sex in the show. Drugsare also a big part in this show. Don't get me wrong, it is a good show juist not for kids.
this trend in modern tv really frightens me on so many levels. is it really entertainment to see people raped and murdered on a weekly basis? this show and all of its spin-offs contain so many vivid scenes of violence and graphic gruesome events and deems it "entertainment."
in my opinion, it desensitizes the viewer to such situations and events, and even glorifies the crime scene.
it is also very unrealistic in the evidence and participation of the CSI team.
great show. it seems like no matter how many seasons they come up with they always have a new story line, i only like the original (CSI: Las Vegas) but that is just me. however, i think parents should be present when young children are watching this show. there is a lot of cheating, lying, and violence.
Nothing any of the CSI's do is realistic, first of all. And there's so many gruesome deaths and the CSI's themselves sometimes have such disgusting personal lives that it's almost silly. Furthermore, none of their technology is real. On the other hand, it is an entertaining show.
