A Bit Unique
Disney Channel has made another new animation aimed for kids. Since about February 2012, there were mysterious ads for this running through shows and about a month before the premiere, Disney released an ad that showed animated characters, monsters, and humor, targeting kids. Then, on a huge show premiere night, Disney released a special sneak peek after the nice premieres. I didn't watch it since I wasn't interested by the ads. Then on another premiere night (after the season premiere of My Babysitter's a Vampire and a new ANT Farm), Disney released the season premiere of Gravity Falls. I reluctantly watched it since I had nothing else to do. I can say that it is a little unique, but nothing much new. I liked it mostly because of Mabel, the (main?) character of this show. She was plain dumb, and because of that, she was funny. Grunkle Stan is weird. A lot of people are weird and stupid. Kids will adore the characters. Now for the parental review. There are no overall positive messages or role models, just dumb characters. Violence is kind an issue for younger or sensitive kids. There are scary elements and the characters are constantly in peril. Based on the opening credits in the beginning of each episode, there can be some jump scenes. No sexual content. In the language department, Christians (like me) can be offended because there are a few religious exclamations. That's all. Should be fine and fun for young elementary school kids.

Better than most cartoons these days
I was sceptical about the comercials for gravity falls the show. The concept had been used before and jokes seemed lame, but actually the show was pretty good. It was about two siblings who visit their uncle's for the summer. While putting up signs for his uncle's museum dipper discovers a secret book about the strange town and all of the weird things going on there. The show was entertaining and funny, but usually farfeached which is fine for a cartoon. I really hope this doesn't fail like that new "scooby doo" show which had a great story that was ruined by constant flurting, scary bad guys, and possibly the worst possible ending to a series ever, even with that the show was okay because of the actual mystery aspect. And this show succeeds at keeping it mysterious without aiming it at a young teenage public only

Funny
Quite cute how the characters, the twins, are funny. But the "gruncle Stan" is quite annoying...he never looks for the twins....but what the heck, it makes it funny!

SUPER AWESOME!
Gravity Falls is awesome. It teaches the importance of family and is not boring like a show that tries too hard too teach lessons like Caillou does.

A Disney show that teens can enjoy!
This show is amazing and the one show on Disney Channel I will watch! I think it's great that Disney finally made a show for older kids. The main characters are in near-death experiences in every episode, so I think that would terrify many children, it even had me on the edge of my seat with anxiety! The villains can also be pretty creepy, but there's always a happy ending! But, there are dangerously stupid characters, the only normal one is Dipper. So, no educational values or role models, but a totally appropriate show for older kids and teens!

AMAZING CARTOON FOR ALL AGES!
The only thing I think is a little too much is that "Mabel" calls "Dipper" names (dork, nerd, etc)! Besides that ITS THE BEST CARTOON EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best show on Disney I've seen in ages!
Disney channel had become awful jokes with sitcom laughter every two seconds. I stopped watching it ages ago because nothing had good material, especially after all these classic shows were cancelled. Then they released Gravity Falls. My goodness, I love this show! Its cute with a fantasy twist. The "bad guys" haven't been scary so far. For instance, in one episode, a boy who we think is either a vampire or a zombie turns out to be a bunch of garden gnomes. They're quite cute, actually. The two characters that drive the show, Dipper and Mabel, are well written and designed. Dipper and his... somewhat loopy twin sister, Mabel move in with their penny pinching Great Uncle Stan for the summer. Little do they know, the surrounding area is full of mysteries and magic. I'd say it's appropriate for kids who have watched the programs on cartoon network eater than Caillou or Clifford. I've watched it with five and seven year olds and they eat it right up! Now, if you're really against "witchcraft" or "blasphemy" or whatever, don't watch the show. It's really good as far as I'm concerned, but if your beliefs are against it, change the channel before you ruin it for the rest of us. Also, if your child is sheltered (as in, PBS kids or Veggie Tales are the only shows they watch normally) they might find it too creepy. Even though the villains aren't scary, the main characters are put in near-death situations. No one gets hurt in the end. All in all, beautifully animated show, cute characters, and funny bad guys, mystery, adventure. Almost bringing back the old Disney!

Disney Channel Made Something Good For a Change
I'm used to Disney Channel producing really mediocre television shows, so I've mostly avoided them ever since I was young. My friends recommended this show, so I decided to check it out. I know it's for younger kids (I'm fifteen), but I really liked it! It's very creative, and has some spooky, sort of mystery solving elements without being a cheesy "Scooby Doo" type show. It also has funny jokes, rather than just some contrived crap with a laugh track in the background. People should definitely watch this.

Hilarious show, NOT for kids
I really enjoyed this show when it first came out. I would give the show's plot and cute characters 5 stars for a Disney show. This is one of the only cartoons I've seen that one of the main characters actually changes her clothes after every day! It's actually not complete garbage (surprisingly for a Disney show). However, I must say I do not approve of the direction Disney took with this show. I was shocked to see the openly gay police officer couple (shown in The Deep End) and a few other questionable characters. What I mean by questionable characters would be such as Mabel's friend, Grenda. Grenda is your everyday obese pre-teen with a twist- her voice apparently changed some time in the past (probably puberty) and so she has an extremely deep man-voice. During the last episode, she is in the middle of having a sleepover with Mabel and Candy when she goes into a closet and comes out with red lipstick kiss marks all over her face. In Carpet Diem, Disney illustrated Grenda as boy crazy but with a few instances that convinced me she was bi. Also, foul language towards adults is actually praised in this show. Grunkle Stan even stated that Mabel (in Dipper's body) was finally standing up to him by calling him names! The final thing I noticed that bothered me was in the episode, Carpet Diem, Grunkle Stan gives Dipper (Mabel) "the talk" by starting off talking about the pituitary gland and finishing off with "and that's how babies are made". Mabel plainly states afterwards that her childhood is lost. To put it simply, this show was designed to entertain giggling pre-teens. I am not homophobic nor am I against Gravity Falls itself. I am however, worried about what this will do to the young children who watch this. If you are a parent who wants your child to grow up comfortable with gay couples and disrespect towards adults, then by all means let your children watch this. I for one am just worried that when a smart 7-9 year old hears the words "pituitary gland", they will have the urge to pull out their IPads and search for what it means. From experience, I know what I heard on TV as a child has affected me to the point that even today I might sometimes say an exact line I heard a character say but not know it came from a child’s TV show. Only after re-watching old cartoons and movies did I finally realize how much I have been affected by it all. I must admit that I really only had a problem with the last 2 episodes. They went a little too far and crossed the line of being child appropriate and Adult Swim material.

GRAVITY FALLS SAVES DISNEY'S LIFE FROM AUSTIN AND ALLY JUNE 29, 2012
Thank you Disney, for a 2012 show, it's not bad, it's not a sitcom, has no laugh tracks, boy-hungry teenage girls, too much make-up, and the main character doesn't always sing or make up corny jokes. It's a good mystery, who knows what might happen? It just attracts me so much, I don't know why! It shows that you shouldn't tease others and always believe your siblings. I'm just glad! Shake It Up and A.N.T Farm can go take a long hike in Nebraska and, GET LOST! It really has no violence or very crude bits. It's perfect. Plus, they needed to start showing more cartoons anyways. Animation is good, it's not too long, and has a NOT repeating plot all of the reality shows have.

Probably the best Disney Channel show I can remember.
This is really the only Disney Channel program that I've ever enjoyed watching. All of the characters are unique and funny, the only normal one is Dipper, though he still feels very real and well written. It also has clever nods to more mature audiences watching the show. Some of the stuff might be a little creepy to extremely young children, and characters do act rude at times, but it's usually all displayed in a humorous fashion and likely anyone over the age of 4 could be pretty okay with. It's target demographic will love it, and even older teens and adults could enjoy it as well.

I hate everything about disney channel!!!!
Wow, this is so overrated. This show is not funny at all!!! Grow up people. The humor on this show is so stupid. Dipper is some retarded coward, Mabel is a freaky girl that acts like a pair of tidy-widies, Stan is an old hippi, Duece is a fat and pretentious maniac, Wendy is the only likeable character on this show, Gideon is just a fat and magical redneck. So I have to say that this show would be a one star without Wendy, she is a nice girl and I really like the way they made her look, she is a cool character, (but she is a miner character in the entire show and that is pretty sad.) If they make a spin-off of this show with Wendy as the main character, I might actually change my mind about disney channel, but if they don't, then I suggest no disney!!!
