Hogan Knows Best
What’s the Story?
HOGAN KNOWS BEST takes viewers into the home of famed '80s wrestler Terry "Hulk" Hogan, his wife, Linda, and their kids, Brooke (17) and Nick (15) -- a 20,000-square-foot home in Florida, to be exact. Terry and Linda struggle with everyday issues involving their teens but have successfully created an open dialogue within their home. Terry's celebrity status is overshadowed, at least during the show, by his kids' social lives and their potential careers. Brooke and Nick are both home-schooled and are adamant about making names for themselves -- Brooke as a pop singing sensation and Nick as a race-car driver. Brooke's career has already begun; Hogan Knows Best occasionally spotlights her successes and struggles as she looks for management and works on her debut album (she plays the piano and writes her own songs).
Is It Any Good?
In spite of his quirks, Hogan really does know best. His family has its share of typical bickering and sibling rivalry, but the Hogans also have an impressive ability to resolve conflict with compromise. It's refreshing in an unscripted program to see parents listening to their kids -- and kids listening to their parents.
The Hogans deal with all issues -- no matter how personal -- as a family. Terry and Linda didn't like young Nick dating one girl seriously, so they encouraged him to be open to meeting others; they meet their kids' dates; Terry shopped for tampons for Brooke. Terry is particularly protective of his little girl, as any dad with a 5'10" blonde daughter would be. He has spied on her while she was at the family beach house to make sure she wasn't throwing a party and put a GPS tracking device on her car before she went on a date.
