I absolutely love this show. I've watched every episode so far! The messages are so inspiring and true. They cry, and you cry with them. It really makes you wonder what people are really like. People you would never think have problems do. I definately reccomend! :D
I love the idea of this program. However, as a social worker trained to always think about the other side, I fear for the the children whom make these confesions on television because the whole community in of the city in which the project is focused watches the program and may know the teenagers airing their family and life problems. When someone they know watches the program, it may cause even more problems in their lves outside of school. Not only this, but teenagers will be teenager. Just because they agree and abide by the program today, does not mean they will not make fun of these people with horrible pasts tomorrow. I just do not like te breech of confidentiality, but love the program! It hasgiven me a few ideas for my practice as well. I guess the show has so many strengths regarding the general teenage population that they were not worried about the impact it has on the lives of the confessers themselves. It may help alleviate the stress and burden of dealng with their issues for the day, but tomorrow is a whole new story!
It's a watch and then talk show.
It's an interesting experiment. I'd like to know if they go back and ask what happens afterword. THAT would be interesting.
Sometimes, there are things said you wouldn't want your teens hearing, but if they're in high school, they already know it happens.
This show is one of the best to be on mtv! The show chronicles a high school who is highly clique-ish and racist. The shows councilors come to the school to ask them one request. They ask the teens to finish this sentence "if you really knew me..." This show is very powerful and I think every school should have this program come and get their students to realize that everyone puts on a face to hide who they really are.
This show is possibly one of the best shows MTV has ever put on air. In fact, its probably one of the best shows on air. "If Your Really Knew Me" is very inspirational. You will be able to feel what these teens feel, you might cry, you might laugh. This is a show you should definitely watch, especially your teens.
