We, as a family, watched the show a few years back and it wasn't quite so objectionable then. As the kids in the show have aged--and time has gone on, it has gotten more controversial. The subject matter is not, in my opinion, for kids under about age 12...Unless you want them exposed to drug references, sexual discussion and references, etc. The language isn't necessary either, to make the show funny.
I don't see any problem with letting someone that is 10+ watch the show. Why are all you people in my age range acting like its extremely bad for kids? If this is violent to you, try watching Dexter instead. Your jaw will drop.
Just Don't Talk to Anyone...If you want to go to common sense media...you don't have to, we all know better.
on CSM, If you search "Malcolm in the Middle","Family Matters","George Lopez","Roseanne","Home Improvement","Everybody Hates Crhis"... you'll be alright. If you search "!@#$%^&*()_+", maybe not. The Most Inappropriate Thing on CommonSense Media gets this a No 12th grade or Under Zone... just don't look for inappropriate words.
Malcolm in the middle is a grate show but sometimes it gets a little crazy and viloent. But other than that it rocks for tweens and teenagers. But not for kids under nine.
As an adult, I can appreciate the wit and humor, but I don't want my kids exposed. I was surprised Nick has included this show in it's lineup. There isn't one character that I would be okay letting my kids learn anything from.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TIMES 10
I love this show. Started watching when it came on Nick At Night. It is like our family (seriously, My youngest brother is like Dewey, my other bother though is like Reese, I'm Malcom, my mom Lois, and my dad Hal). My brother 8 and 10 love this show along with my parents. It is halarious. The funnist episodes aare Halloween, If girls were boys, and flashback.
This show is as funny as hell. I really love the humor in this show. But I wouldn't recommend it to a little child, because they use potty-mouth language.
A great, catchy theme song is the first part to a great family sitcom, and Malcolm in the Middle hit it off, believe me. Some implied nudity here and there, and some salty language, but there are actually good messages and role models, alongside one product-placing reference to Mortal Kombat (remember, guys? No one beats Sub-Zero?) but not much to worry about in this great TV show. Good for preteens and up, in my view.
This show is so funny, last night it was just like, her sons turned to nice daughters. "And I know that making sex is wrong." "You got pregnant!" "And she was only dating him because I LIKED HIM!" Ha Ha and there is a lot of naked people and an occasoinal D**n ass crap etc. 10+
It's hard to believe that Malcolm In The Middle first premiered on Fox ten years ago in 2000. Since then, it seems like many shows on TV have been influenced in some form by Malcolm. It's a great show for tweens and up, but it's an edgy family sitcom with some of the quirkiest characters ever created. Some episodes have inappropriate sexual content and language, but it can be overlooked through the show's sharp writing and great acting. I have to agree with other reviewers that the early seasons were the best. Malcolm was always a cartoony family sitcom with goofy situations, but later seasons of the show practically turn it into a satire with an overload of awkward humor and over-the-top wackiness that imitates The Office and Family Guy. This change in tone made its audience abandon the show and helped lead to its cancellation in 2006. Since the complete series has not been released on DVD, you can only watch Malcolm on Nick@Nite in primetime Sunday-Thursday starting at 8/7c (Monday at 8:30/7:30c) and FX in daytime.
