this show is funny very very funny just wish they would tone down the swearing a bit though because this and modern family seem to be the only 2 family sitcoms there are and it kind of spoils things with that bad language but like it other than that .ps i love sue she is just so fun who coudnt love her .
We laugh quite a bit as we watch this together. We do let our 9 year old watch The Middle, although there is sometimes a bit too much "d*mn", "cr*p", and other words we don't like either of our kids to use. Once in a while there is a bit too much sexual innuendo. I wouldn't say this is a perfect show for families, but it's very well written and for the most part, we are OK with the content. They always try to weave in a life lesson, which we appreciate.
This show is one of my favorite shows! A great family show. The only reason I put it up for age 11 is because the parents drink alcohol in mostly every episode and some episodes there is words that are not THAT bad but not the best.
this is one of two shows that can keep my whole house laughing all night long we love evryone on here ps i espescualy love sue she is just so cute and funny
Good show for the whole family. The only problem is that they say some language my son cant use like D--n, but they only swear about twice an episode. Kids under 10 might not get the humor.
i really like this, it has true things, your house is messy and you want to clean it, your childrens grades, problems with jobs and money, it does not have s**, violence or drinking, it is really pretty good.
ABC's newest sitcom "The Middle" is reminiscent of the network's past family sitcom hits like "Home Improvement", "8 Simple Rules", and "George Lopez". The show's unique camera style is reminiscent of "Malcolm in the Middle" and the witty humor is reminiscent of "Better off Ted" and "Scrubs". When you put all these winning elements together, you get a show that is a true rarity in primetime: a smart family-friendly sitcom. "The Middle" proves that you don't need raunchy sex jokes and profanities to gain an audience. Like on "Modern Family", humor on this show is found in the trials and tribulations of everyday family life rather than constant insults. It's refreshing to see a character like Brick that's charming not because he's smart and rude but because he's nice and quirky (yet socially awkward at the same time). It's also refreshing to see The Janitor (Neil Flynn) in a new role since he left "Scrubs" earlier this year. If you have not given this show a chance yet, I highly recommend it. "The Middle" currently airs on ABC Comedy Wednesday at 8:30/7:30c after "Modern Family" reruns.
A funny show for the family with tweens and above to watch together
As this is a new show I can only give my impression after watching the first episode, so things might change (doubt it, though). In any case my wife and I watched the first 10 minutes or so by ourselves (recorded) before deciding that not only was it appropriate for our 13 year old but that she would like it - we were right. The next evening we sat down together and watched the entire episode and really enjoyed it - it is entertaining and (so far) very funny. Thankfully it does not appear to be written by 23 year olds who think every 'joke' has to be related to sex or belittling someone - humor is related to what every family goes through. Very mild language, and funny 'placement ads' for other ABC shows did not bother me in the least.
