XD verison safe for 7 and up, original good for 12 and up.
I've enjoyed the Naruto series since I first read the manga back in my teens, but seriously, the Disney XD version in my eyes is harmless. Well They do a lot I don't like, but that's all the stuff they believe is not for kids (like blood and stuff). But it's perfect for your kids. They also take out the word "kill" changing sentences from "I'll kill you" to "I'll defeat you" and such. It's good for kids 7 or older, but when it comes to the original, unedited version, 12 and older will do. I don't know why Viz Media rated it T+ For Older Teens(16+), I believe they were going a little over the top, because there is nothing in Shippuden that's REALLY violent. If you want a 16+ anime look at Hellsing or Berserk. They make Shippuden look like a PBS Kids show compared to them. That rating was way off mark. I watch it with my nephew who I treat as my own son, and he LOVES it. All the time, people ask what's his favorite show and he always says, "Naruto Shippuden! I love Naruto Shippuden!" And our favorite character is, of course, the lovable strong ninja goofball, Naruto himself.

Naruto grows up, right along with his audience.
So far, I have seen every episode of Shippuden that has been released in Japan, and I can say this: There will be a lot to censor, and if you count the Manga, there will be even more. Hopefully none of the censoring will interfere with understanding the plot. Mostly, the role models are good, although there are a few concerns with Kakashi, who likes to read soft-core pornography books (none shown, but it is implied that Kakashi's books are that) while fighting, and Jiraya, who is the author of said books. Both, however, are fantastic mentors, and give out many positive messages, ex: "practice makes perfect". Naruto is a ninja. His job is to hurt and kill people in the name of his village. The violence is therefore a necessity, because most of his enemies are other ninjas, trying to do the same to him. Great show, but it will only get more violent.

Disney's big success.
WHOOP! What was that noise? Well, I think it was Disney picking up the epic Naruto saga right under Cartoon Network's nose! Disney makes this show completely appropriate (and still good) for tweens with only some mild violence. ON 9+

More intense the Shohen jump but still the same!
Love it. Great role models for kids. It has a little innuendo including sexy no jutsu. But it depends on how mature. There can be violence but again you need to know what your child can handle. I'm thinking 13+ would be about the age I'd let a kid start watching. But that means nothing! Maybe you have a upbeat mature 12 year old or a timid 16 year old. Just pay attention to what your kids can handle. A little more intense then Shohen Jump!

naruto not a kids show, but freakin sweet!!
Naruto shippuden is an amazing anime, enough said, even though it shouldnt be on disney xd, it deserves a spot on adult swim because disney edits so much stuff its not even funny, for example in the first episode of this series, sasuke pulls a sword out on Naruto but it wasnt shown on disney xd, all you got was his eyes and sakura screaming, well i say not for kids but if youre going to watch it i request watching it online and uncut!!
