as an avid makeover show watcher, i found the plot to be very typical sounding and seemingly harmless-- take a bunch of women-clueless, socially awkward men and turn them into chick magnets with a little help from a master. the students are taught the ancient art of picking up women with tecniques and tricks that will make him much more attractive. generally i don't find the show unbearable to watch, but i took strong offense to the way master pickup sensei "Mystery" trains the men to think about women. our fine host refers to a group of women in a club or bar etc. as a "set" (comparable to a "gaggle of geese", a "pride of lions", a "pack of wolves"). women are treated like brainless animals that are drawn to a men that ooze charisma and style like moths to light. the students are not being taught that we women are sensible, intelligent, and aren't ALL drawn to cheesy nitwits like these boys. i can tell the show has a potentially good intention, but there are more things that i have to shake my head at than good qualities.
