Parents need to know that this travel series, which features a comedian with cerebral palsy, has a strong empowering message about the abilities of the disabled. It contains some very mild sexual innuendo (like references to things being sexy), very occasional bleeped language, and a few scenes where alcohol is visible or being consumed. Lots of local venues and companies are plugged.
What's the story?
ROLLIN' WITH ZACH is a reality travel show featuring comedian Zach Anner, winner of Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star. Anner, who has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound, visits cities from coast to coast in order to see the sites, meet new people, and try five activities that the city is known for. From rock climbing to performing at a comedy club, he sees lots of exciting things and meets lots of great people along the way. Things don't always go as planned, but his positive attitude and sense of humor helps him get through one fun and interesting challenge at a time.
Is it any good?
The series offers a fun and lighthearted look at some of the interesting things that cities around the country have to offer. But the real draw to the show is Zach himself, whose humor and easy-going personality adds a sincere quality to the show, especially when problems arise with his wheelchair or he is unable to perform tasks like other people.
Granted, one has to wonder if some of the activities Zach participates in are rigged to meet his specific needs because he is hosting the show. But his overall attitude is extremely positive, and his message about the joys of traveling, as well as living life to the fullest, is definitely empowering.
