What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this animated series is based on a popular Nickelodeon video game, so don't be surprised if kids who like the show want to play the game, and vice versa. The series is fairly benign; its mild, injury-free cartoon violence (long-distance falls, full-speed collisions, etc.) is probably the only content that might give parents pause. But don't expect strong lessons -- the protagonist is often guilty of making hasty decisions that get him and his tribemates into trouble.

  • The young main character is happy to use his magical powers to help his tribe in any way he can, but his exuberant (and occasionally irresponsible) efforts sometimes result in more mishaps when he goes too far.
  • Typical, injury-less cartoon violence: falling boulders pound people into the ground, characters sail off cliffs and live to tell about it, etc. Tak's magical wand can also blast apart large objects in his path.
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

In TAK AND THE POWER OF JUJU, a young jungle boy named Tak (voiced by Hal Sparks) uses his unique ability -- communicating with magical beings -- to improve on the traditionally bad luck of his native village, Pupununu. Tak has assumed the role of mediator between the magical Juju and the Pupununu people, who rely on mystical intervention during times of turmoil. But the combination of the Jujus' vagueness and Tak's impulsiveness usually means that his attempts to help wind up creating even more trouble for the village, and occasionally even the Jujus themselves. It's then that he has to do some quick thinking -- and enlist the help of his pals -- to get everything back to normal for the Pupununu.

Is it any good?

Based on a popular Nickelodeon video game, Tak and the Power of Juju is an entertaining CG-animated series full of colorful characters and outlandish scenarios sure to entertain older school-age kids and young tweens. Tak's mix of good intentions and general mischief lays the groundwork for plenty of fun in each episode, and parents will like that there's not much to worry about here, aside from mild, typical cartoon violence. Just be ready for your kids to begging for the tie-in games once they've developed an affection for the jungle-dwelling cast.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about making decisions. Why does Tak act before he thinks things out properly? Does he expect things to go badly? What are the repercussions of his actions? Have you ever rushed to a decision that's gotten you into trouble? If you'd stopped to think first, would you have changed what you did? How do you make up for careless behavior? What lessons do you learn?

A little silly, but cute and fun
This show wasn't all that bad. It was pretty fun watching it with my sister, but Their are a lot of people who don't like the show and want it off. Why would they review that stuff to a kids show? I don't think so. Please watch it! It's fun!

Dissapointed
I was looking forward with my kids to see the first episode of this program. I was really dissapointed the way the animals were treated, as if they were objects. What are they trying to teach kids? Native tribes are known to be respectful and greateful for the environment around them, including animals. Animals were stepped on and thrown(used as cannon balls). I hope they change this, or else I will not let my kids watch this program anymore!

The Worst show on Nicktoon's Network Ever!!!!
hey everyone! this is my first review and I thought I should start with the wrost nicktoons network show ever.....Tak. Tak, Tak....where do I begin? Plot:1 this shows about a retarded looking kid named Jeera who lives with her Dad (who is the Cheif),her Sister(hates Jeera Friend), and best friend Tak, the most stupid, unorginal character on the show. Add Sheep, other Jungle Kids, a Log-Hiding wussy, a Villian in a Blue Cape and a new crappy "adventure" every week and you have the plot. LAME.... Animation:1 WORST. CGI ANIMATION. EVER. Characters:2.5 not only do we have spongebob sterotypes (Tak, Jeera, Lok, Zariah), but we also have other Kids in the Jungle(A weirdo & 2 brats) REALLY? One Crappy Nicktoon is enough but 5 is Bleh! ----------------------------------------------------- overall this show is crappy. also it's Nicktoons networks only orginal series that didn't get Low Radings. IT DID'NT EVEN GET A PEZ DISPENSER PROMO!!!!!! I feel sorry for those who like the show, and envy the people who have never seen it. I realy Hope this show is in cartoon hell where it belongs. 250

A disgrace to all Tak fans
If you enjoyed the video games, prepare for a huge disappointment. I would have given this 0, but I liked the first episode. The rest of it is just unfunny, horribly plotted and just not entertaining. Now, I loved the video games, they were a lot of fun, but the TV show is a horrible effort and currently one of the worst shows on Nick. Avoid this show at all cost. It tries to be funny, was based off of a great game, had some great voice talents, but it was poorly executed, therefore it fails.

What on earth?!?!?
Tak and the power of Juju?!? What kind of satanic brainwashing nonsense is this? I fear for the souls of our children when they are spoon-fed thinly veiled occultist dreck along with their overly-sugary breakfast cereals... The power of juju indeed...
