PrAna clothing is a sponsor of the show, and on occasion logos for other sportswear are partially visible. What's the Story?
THE CLIMB is a reality competition series featuring amateur rock climbers competing for a chance for cash and a major corporate sponsorship. Hosted by Jason Momoa, professional climber Chris Sharma, and American Ninja Warrior champion Meagan Martin, it follows 10 climbers who dream of becoming pros as they compete in a series of challenging ascents designed to test their skills. The two who climb the shortest distances as they make their way to the top face off in an elimination climb. The contestant that makes it to the end of the competition gets $100K and a sponsorship with PrAna clothing company.
Is It Any Good?
The low-key reality competition offers viewers a chance to watch skilled rock climbers use strength, strategy, and mental focus to climb sea cliffs, boulders, and sandstone slopes. Before each ascent, which take place in locations like Majorca, Spain, and Wadi Rum, Jordan, pro climber Chris Sharma deconstructs the climb, noting what makes the rock formation special while offering some details about the parts that make it extremely challenging. Meanwhile, the contestants discuss some of their own concerns about what they have to do, as well as what drives them to keep going. Throughout it all, The Climb showcases some of the world's most spectacular rock climbing locations. But despite the fact that these folks are playing for cash and sponsorship, the overall series does a great job of highlighting why rock climbers are passionate about the sport, and the sense of personal satisfaction it brings them that no money can buy.
