Kid reviews for The Originals

There is a lot of violence but it is very rarely gorey and a lot of it is supernatural violence mostly conflicted on bad guys. The main characters are all villians so there aren't very many good role models. The show is a good quality show can be a bit boring sometimes and there are holes in the plot. I do like the show though.

(I would rate this 4.5/5 stars not 4/5) As an 11 year old myself I rate this a 12+. Ive always been very mature when It comes to tv shows/films. I was watching 12 rated things as a 9 year old (With Approval of my parents) and now I am 11 my mum decided to let me watch a few 15's, My first was.... The Vampire Diaries. I watched it and fell in love with the characters and the storylines, I fully recommend it. I realised that it had two spin offs, 'The originals' and 'Legacies' After finishing tvd I decided to watch 'The Originals. After a few episodes I was hooked. I do not think Tvd or Originals should be a 15 but they have their reasons, Gore, sex references etc. As a Mature 11 year old I was slightly shocked by some scenes like one hayley and elijah scene in season 2 and forced myself to skip. To be honest I think that there are more sex references than Gore/Violence scenes which was not what It seems to be. If you are an adult reading this dont let this put you off letting your child watch this, It keeps them hooked for a while, Isnt actually too inappropriate and you can watch it for free, with ads on 'All 4' If you live in britain. If you dont want ads, Each season is around £15 on amazon. Personally I love this show and totally recommend.

I think this show is perfect for teens and young adults. I think if a parent is questioning watching it they should watch it with the kid so they can pause if the show seems “to violent”. I don’t think its violent but some parents are weird.

Personally, throughout the entire show. (What I’ve seen so far) there’s only been 2 “sexual” scenes. And nothing revealing, yes there is gore. Heart ripping, neck biting, people slit their own wrists open. The language isnt even that bad. Literally the most frequent “curse” is Damn. 11+ should handle this show, though I recommend watching ‘The Vampire Diaries’ before watching ‘The Originals’ because in some episodes they mention things that happened in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and if you don’t watch that series first, none of it will make sense. Neither will ‘Legacies’ if you don’t watch ‘The Originals’ or ‘The Vampire Diaries’ first. Great actors/actresses. Great show. But beware that there are some emotional scenes and violent scenes. This tv show is amazing. It is a spin-off to Vampire Diaries, but I love it. There are a few things that parents and kids should watch out for. IN the beginning, the story revolves around Hayley and Klaus. It is an unplanned pregnancy that happened when they were both drunk. There is a lot of violence, but most of it looks fake. There are some witchy sacrifice rituals that include necks being slit. Klaus and Elijah kill others regularly (mostly Klaus) but in the end, they both find redemption. Towards the end of the series, a girl named Eva enters the shows. Eva works for a dark magic called the Hollow that possesses and sacrifices children. That may be a little much. I know my rating seems very serious, but truly, if you have already watched Vampire Diaries then you will be fine. There is nothing in Vampire Diaries that isn't in this.

This is a really good show it’s very catchy but can get a bit boring sometimes it has mystery and you will always want to know what will happen with the original family

The best thing ever always stick by family always and forever no matter wat family is always first such a good series hope there be season 6 with Elijah and klause coming back will be so marvelous

This show is the best show I have ever seen. There are some mature scenes but when they come up I just skip past them. A lot of violence obviously, like ripping out hearts, the characters in pain, blood, rituals etc. The odd use of bad language but nothing too bad. If you are mature enough, this show is great!
