HORRIBLE SHOW NEEDS TO BE CANCELED. One female character wears a tank top that barely covers her very large breasts. Also often shows the male characters with nothing but a black box over his privates. Also uses language my kid is not allowed to use ie "crap" not ok
My wife has a home daycare and she had the channel on Cartoon Network at 8:00 a.m. cst. As I was cleaning house, I happened to glance at the tv and saw one of the main male characters COMPLETELY nude except for a blurry patch on his pubic region!!!!! This show should be on late at night instead of 8:00 a.m.
Okay for older kids, but not for seven or eight year olds.
Even though my seven-year old has grown up with Survivor, I think watching real people behave rudely with an explanation from parents is preferable to watching this satirical timewaster. Seven is too young to get such a heavy dose of stereotyped characters that are made to be laughed at because they are such losers.
In the very first episode, Heather tells Duncan to "Get bent" which virtually means 'get laid'-- 'go have sex'. In a later episode, Heather's shirt gets torn off and Harold expresses his interest with "Booooobies". Not appropriate for children at all.
What's this show teaching kids? That sex-insults are alright? It could be more subtle.
This series was on a few years ago(I was about 17? 18? Now nearly 23), and while it's a decent show to watch when you're bored, it's definitely not for children. My opinion has not changed since then. If you want to air this, it should be later at night , way-early in the day, and NOT during the summer, when people under 18 are more likely to see it. There are very few good role models in this show, and that IS leaving out style, clique and genre.
While (If I remember correctly) there is some drinking involved, they don't specify what it is..so I'm not marking that off.
I'm highly surprised they allowed this back on Cartoon Network, and even more surprised with the time slot.
Did I mention that one of the characters is extremely sexist?
No good for young kids, too stupid once they are older
Even though it is intended to be satire kids don't get that until they are much older. It references things that hopefully they aren't being exposed to in the mainstream media and if they are then it should not be reinforced here.
He doesn't know it's satire, is soaking up larnin I'm not ready to deal with
I don't see a shortcut icon for my main concern--behavior. This isn't just a lack of role models or teaching rude phrases. It's also whole sets of ways of interacting and stereotypes. My 7-8 yr old son has learned waaaay too much from it. By the time I knew he was watching it at a neighbor's, phrases from the show were regulars in his vocabulary. at that point the bes I could do was watch and discuss it with him. He was surprisingly receptive to this, probably because the ways characters treat each other is unlike anything he's encountered and he was a bit baffled.
And I have to admit I love it too!
There is a bit of language, but not too bad. Some sexual situations like making out, dating, typical teen behaviour.
Although the teens may seem stereotypical at first, over the course of the season they begin to show their true personalities.
All in all this is an awesome show for preteens and all the way up to adults.
My mom would not like to watch Total Drama Island,This show contains mild suggestive content,Mild cartoon violence, and mild language (e.i crap),I would like to call this show a Teen Choice for ages 13 and up
I love this show. Now that I got that out of the way, here's what people need to realize
I swear, every single negative review I see for this show is from some oversensitive parent/child who assumes that this show is intended for children. Seriously, to get after this show and say it sucks because it's not "age-appropriate" is like giving a horror movie a negative review for being scary. You're basically criticizing the show for doing its job! This along with every show made by them (6teen, Total Drama Action and Stoked) are not intended for kids. They were made specifically for teens/adults. If you actually let your kid watch this just because it's animated and was licensed by cartoon network, you only have yourself to blame. Obviously, you ignored the rating the show was given and did no research on it whatsoever, so it's partly your fault your kid was exposed to it. With that said, Cartoon Network executives did not make this show. It was made here in Canada and is shown on prime time here, clearly proving that it wasn't intended for kids. So if you gotta hate on the show, get after what really matters, like the humor or the characters, not whether it's appropriate for kids or not, otherwise you're hating on it for the wrong reasons.
I don't really think that this show is good for kids ages 8-12. I don't watch it, but the characters are mean and nasty to each other on the commercials, and one girl has a revealing shirt on...
