Uma Thurman on Motherhood, Movies, and Age-Appropriate Guidance
- "I feel fortunate to be blessed to be torn between a creative life, which I love, and a family to which I'm devoted. It's not easy always to get it right." -- Uma Thurman
- Common Sense Media interviewed Uma Thurman about her new movie, Motherhood. She spoke candidly about what it's like to be a working mother and how she handles media in her own family. As an actress whose work spans the gamut from the ultra-violent Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction movies to less edgy fare like Motherhood, Thurman truly appreciates parental dilemmas like when to let your kids play video games.

I'm from the UK and this interview raises questions. I have a child relative who was allowed to watch Kill Bill when she was 7. Looking at various comments on what ratings movies should have, there are wide variations in opinion.
It would be interesting to see Uma Thurmans views (or any other movie star who has done similar films) about the impact of parents/guardians allowing children to watch movies that are very clearly not suitable for their ages.
In the UK there are never reports of parents being penalised for such behaviour and yet, society is wondering why kids grow up hardened to life, probably partially influenced by certain types of movies that they saw as they grew up.
It would be interesting to see if there have been any studies that undoubtedly linked 'problem' youths/adults with what types of movies they were exposed to when younger (while also balancing it with those who were exposed but grew up fairly 'normal').
IDK, im only 11. LOLZ!
