About Me

I am a freelance writer and marketing consultant. I live in Stowe, VT with my wife and two kids, ages 2 and three months. I enjoy being outdoors, but am a sucker for sports, reality TV and video games

What My Kids Love Now

My son is a big fan of the playground, and has recently mastered the fine art of sliding. When he's indoors, he draws, plays firetrucks and watches Noggin. My daughter enjoys drooling and vomiting.

House Rules

Television is restricted to certain specific times of day. Our son occasionally joins me for some Wiggles online, but the computer has yet to fully capture his attention.

When the Kids Are Asleep…

My Biggest Challenge Is:

Titles You’ve Reviewed

  • Web site: Camp Pete

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

Uplifting social site gives lessons in football and life.

Much like Pete Carroll himself, Camp Pete is a good-looking, high-energy, well-intentioned site aimed at creating a moderated, positive football-oriented community for kids from 5 to 12. The USC ...

  • Web site: Wiggletime

I rate this titleonand give it3.0

Video, games, and learning -- but you gotta pay to play.

The best part of Wiggletime is its educational element. On the whole, though, the site still seems a bit unfinished. For all of the size and color of the world, there is really not that much to ...

  • Web site: Mashade

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

Game mash-up site invites creativity but can get violent.

While some may wonder who or why someone would spend the time to do this, the mash-up is yet another innovative outlet for the creativity of gamers, and the results can often have substantial ...

  • Web site: Kido'z

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

Free browser offers strong parent controls and cool content.

Kido'z is a simple, colorful, self-contained children's world that links kids to their favorite games and Web sites, while offering parents the control and flexibility to ensure safe, happy ...

  • Web site: PBS Kids Go! Video

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

PBS puts preschool shows online. (Take that, Hulu.)

As a parent, there is very little NOT to like here. Kids have access to clips and episodes from over twenty PBS Kids shows, all of which are either educational (The Greens, Kratts' ...

  • Web site: Roblox

I rate this titleiffyand give it4.0

Game creator nurtures skills, but games can be violent.

The beauty of Roblox.com is that the site features a never-ending (and continually evolving) supply of creative and fun challenges to explore. The creativity of thousands of young ...
