What My Kids Love Now

We love coloring and drawing these days. And after a recent trip to WDW, all things Disney.

House Rules

Specific websites are OK, with parental supervision. Age-appropriate TV or DVDs before bedtime is okay too.

When the Kids Are Asleep…

Movies, 30 Rock, The Amazing Race, sports.

My Biggest Challenge Is:

Having the energy to keep up. It's tough getting older!

Titles You’ve Reviewed

  • DVD: It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

Disappointed there was no Great Pumpkin? This one's for you.

Linus' belief in the Easter Beagle is sort of a rehashed and even sillier Great Pumpkin, i.e., a lot of pomp and circumstance with no delivery. But then in the end, Snoopy comes through. Some ...

  • Movie: Ponyo

I rate this titleonand give it3.0
    My concerns are:
    • Excessive violence

    • My highlights are:
    • Positive messages
    • Good role models

Odd and imaginative, but might give the water-weary pause

My 4 y.o. son got a bit nervous about the rising ocean, and some odd character behavior, but admittedly may have been a bit too young for this flick. It's an odd but imaginative film, like all ...

  • TV: Kipper

I rate this titleonand give it5.0

Would you like a dog like Kipper? Sure!

My son ate this show up when he was 2-3 years old. Tricky to find on the tube but have DVDs galore. Gentle and cute show about exploring and having fun. A UK import that still works across the pond.

  • TV: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

I rate this titleiffyand give it3.0

OK diversion with some great numbers

Kids learn counting, colors, patterns, problem-solving, etc.Yet it somehow seems less important then establishing Disney character identification. Unfortunately, they are watered-down version of ...

  • TV: Yo Gabba Gabba!

I rate this titleiffyand give it3.0

Nice throwback, but a miss for kids

The design of the show is great. Great colors, great character design. Definitely pulls from oldschool Sid & Marty Krofft shows like HR Pufnstuf, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters or the Banana ...

  • TV: Little Einsteins

I rate this titleonand give it4.0

      • My highlights are:
      • Good role models

      Expanding horizons

It's cool to learn! And the show has spurned an interest for art, music and travel. Culturally diverse and quite global for a kids show. The kids are cute and we all sing Rah, Rah, Rah for ...

    • DVD: Peter Pan

I rate this titleonand give it4.0
      My concerns are:
      • Negative message

        Good fantasy for dreamers

Yes, there's "What Makes the Red Man Red" which is totally uncomfortable. However, our 4 year old boy loves this film and there is much to love in it, including using imagination to ...
