What Parents Need to Know
This review of 911forKids was written by Jean Armour Polly
Parents need to know that this site, aimed mostly at an adult audience, offers useful information about handling all kinds of emergencies, from tsunamis to power outages. An attentive parent can use some of the online materials to provide an important lesson for a young child -- one that might even save a life.
Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about how to prepare -- and respond -- to an emergency. Who do you call? How do you call? What are some good supplies to keep at home or in your car?

Is It Any Good?
Unfortunately, the Flash Quiz game doesn't work right either, as it is impossible to get a passing score. This will frustrate kids who have given all the right answers. Disappointing in a different way is the "hangman-style" word game. The child is asked to guess and spell words before a house burns down. Every time they guess a wrong letter another window bursts into flame. But how many young children can guess or spell "seizure" or "poison"?
