Parents need to know that a lot of the site's safety content is really for adults. It should have been segregated to the parent or teacher's sections of the site. Kids can get lost in the prose while looking for the games. Kids need a presentation of safety facts that's more suited to their age group.
Created by the Home Safety Council, a nonprofit organization of Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, this site aims to prevent children's household injuries. Among the game challenges are identifying household hazards and assembling a disaster kit. Kids who register for the site will get to print a safety pledge and can also save their game scores. To register, you make up a user name and give your ZIP code.
Some of the games seem to have little to do with safety, but others, such as "Who Wants to Be a Safety Hound?" (based on the popular show "Millionaire"), are fast-paced and fun and will test your knowledge about how to stay safe at home.
Families can talk about how the games are sometimes related to safety, but other times are just fun. There are also a few crafts suggested. Users are invited to go to Lowe's stores for the supplies.
