What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this video-centric site does a great job encouraging kids to become environmentally conscious by having kid reporters explain how simple changes like taking shorter showers or using rechargeable batteries can help make our planet healthier. Google ads appear on each page, but stay on topic. The site is supported by Los Angeles Unified School District teachers and STAR Education, a California nonprofit.

Educational value: Lots of science and history info, but some of the games are mindless.
Positive messages: Good messages about preserving the environment and healthy living.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Not applicable.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Google ad box generates links based on page keywords.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

Is it any good?

Some of the sections, like the video channel for teens, could use more content; other parts of the site are still under construction. Kids who are used to sophisticated graphics and flashy animation might find the design a bit dull. Still, the site's off to a great, green start.
