The good stuff

  • Educational value:

    Unless you count the "poophabet" -- an alphabet made of poop -- there is no educational value to this site, other than as a good sociological study in the dumbing down of America.
 

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

    MTV gives the "stunts done by professionals ... don't try this at home" legal-ese warning; however, the degrading, risky behavior performed by the cast of this show has inspired kids to do risky stunts leading to injury in the past, and the site adds fuel to the fire with enthusiastic posts from the community of fans fanning the flames. The more disgusting and dangerous the stunt, the better.

  • Violence:

    Self-inflicted violence resulting in blood and injury is the gold standard. A favorite cast member explains a posted photo taken of his bloodied pants: "I have to empty the piss bag on my leg that I have to wear... until my urethra heals."

  • Sex:

    Lots of fully exposed bare bottoms. Genitals with small icons covering them. Crude sexual humor. One text message posted on the site, in praise of the cast: "I want to rape all of you!"

  • Language:

    Explicit language is the name of the game here. Plenty of all the standards, the "f--k," "s--t," ass, as well as vulgar sexual slang, in various creative combinations.

  • Consumerism:

    Ads for Jackass-related products like DVDs, shirts, hats, books. Ads for MTV and other cable networks. The entire site creates hype for the TV show, movies, and game.

  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Some stunts involve drinking -- or are done drunk.

Parents need to know that this site is an extension of the popular Jackass movies and MTV series where the cast performs risky -- and most often dangerous -- stunts and generally makes fools of themselves. Crude humor, opportunities for self-inflicted injury, and swearing is the shtick here. With millions of fans, this show and site are popular with -- and dangerous for -- the under-17 crowd.

  • Families can talk about why adults cast members and MTV would perform and promote vulgar stunts on a show like this. What motivates them to do this? If there's an audience for this type of entertainment, there's someone who will nearly cut off their genitals to make money off of it. Discuss the dangers of media images like the ones on this site, especially for young tweens and teens who may not understand how dangerous some of these stunts could be.

    Jackassworld.com not for kids but for adults with a sense of humor and strong stomach

    This is a site created by the people who made the movies and the TV series so of course its not for children (or people with weak stomachs or people who don’t have a sense of humor), use your brain. I personally love the site, its filled with all my favorite Jackass stuff that I other wise wouldn't be able to fine and since the site is constantly being up dated you will always fine something new and usually hilarious everyday. (except on week-end)I also have add that it's not just Jackass stuff you find here. You can find Nitro circus, wildboyz, Rob Dyrek's fantasy factory, and steve-0 Demise and rise. Its a portal to no less than 5 ordinal amazing show and a place where you can interact with other people who are fans. So if you have an open mine or your a fan then this site is defiantly for you, but yeah not recommended for impressionable youth and I say youth because if you an adult who gets hurt tiring this sh*t at home you deserve it.

    Preposterous...

    Blaming a web site is senseless, stupid. Parents should monitor their kids and what they do online - PERIOD. This reminds me of that kid who made headlines by accidently hurting himself while doing a "Jackass" stunt. The parents ended up blaming the show. They call it "Jackass" for a reason. People need to stop being so sensitive. There are plenty of warnings. Parental controls are there for a reason. USE THEM if you don't want your kids exposed to this kind of thing. Simple as that. Your child is YOUR responsibility, not the web site's.

    Children have to be supervised

    Blaming a website makes no sense at all. Parents are supposed to be watching what their children do or say. If you feel the need to attack websites why not attack porn sites? They have it where it will just show up in a pop up window. Basically I would rather let a child see skateboarding and a bunch of guys who love their job then two people involved in sexual acts.

    Its not made for kids under 15

    Its heavilly censord on nudity, but nothing else Know your kids before letting them on this sight Do not under any circumstance let someone under the age of 13 on this website. Know your kids that are ages 13-15 but do supervise them, if your kid is a "daredevil" just avoid this sight, people have got injured....
