Parents need to know that this site is perfect for young book lovers looking for new reading material. The site doesn't hawk any products; it just gives grade-schoolers and tweens some great ideas and recommendations for books that they might not otherwise find. The site does provide a link to Amazon for most titles, so kids may need a little encouragement to go browse their local library and borrow the books before deciding they need to buy them.
What's it about?
Aside from the informative book reviews and previews of upcoming releases, KIDSREADS.COM features a selection of new titles along with a plot synopsis and occasionally an excerpt from the book. If kids are interested in a particular author, they can find interviews with many well-known writers as well as a list of books each has written. Other sections include New in Paperback; Books into Movies; Series (devoted entirely to series books); and for older kids, a page about starting and running a book club.
