Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that this video sharing portal for kids features kid-friendly homemade videos by kids. Every movie is previewed before posting and must have only G-rated material, i.e. nothing offensive, commercial, or copyrighted. If kids want to do more than watch and share videos, they need to register, which requires a kid and parent's email address (parents activate accounts by clicking on an email link).
Families can talk about revealing too much about you or someone else online. What's appropriate to show in a video? What's not? Families can also talk about what copyrighted material is and how or when it might be an issue when making a video. Will background music be used? Will recording take place at a public event? Where will the art work used for transitions come from? Does everyone who will appear in the video agree to post it online?

Grab your popcorn and sit right down to watch fun videos filmed for -- and by -- kids at KIDVIDEOS.COM. This is a safe haven for future moviemakers and current movie junkies: All videos are prescreened for inappropriate content and viewer's comments are monitored for positive user-to-user interaction. Kids can watch videos which are organized by category and then share their favorites with friends, or they can register to start a favorites list, rate videos, add comments, and upload their very own masterpieces. Specific guidelines are given for video submissions (file type and size, frame rate and size), in addition to tips on how to describe, name, and tag videos for the search tool. There are even contests with cool kid prizes (wave board or iPod, anyone?) The site also provides links to learn more about making movies for young aspiring producers and directors.
