What Parents Need to Know

This review of KizClub was written by Jean Armour Polly

Parents need to know that some books are for sale on this site. Also, the audio books are in English but the narrator has a strong accent.

More on KizClub

What’s the Story?

Offering printables that will help children learn to read, KIZCLUB.COM is divided into topical sections such as "ABCs," "Phonics," "Topics," "Crafts," and "Stories." "Stories" is one of the most interesting sections. In the first level, 25 different short stories appear both as Shockwave Flash animations and as PDF printable booklets. There are three levels of difficulty, each with different stories. In the "Resources" area you'll find printable flash cards, nursery rhymes, clip art, and items especially for teachers (or parents), such as "Good Job!" awards.

Is It Any Good?

Parents and teachers should visit this site; the illustrations are engaging and the stories enjoyable. One drawback to the "Stories" section: A narrator reads the stories aloud, but she has a strong accent and often stresses words in an odd way, which is a little distracting. Kids may want to turn the sound down and read the words themselves.

The site also has some unusual and terrific craft printables. Put another cartridge in your printer, you'll need it!
