What Parents Need to Know
About Laguna Beach
Parents need to know that this site -- based on the TV show -- is better for mature teens thanks to the some racy content (loads of talk about hooking up and sexual escapades) and bad behavior (drinking, cliques, cheating on significant others, and focusing on self-image). Although the site offers some milder content (Q&A sessions, biographies, episode guides, and a virtual community), your kids can still watch entire episodes online. It's attached to MTV, so expect lots of advertising and links back to the main MTV site.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about the roller coaster of being a teen. What issues do teens commonly face in high school? Why do cliques form? How come friends sometimes hurt us? How can you handle breaking up with someone? When is it a good idea to get back together?
