This website is an idea whose time has come. Any child (readers or non-readers alike) has access to quality books (many Caldecott Medal winners). The child can choose to read the book with help from a narrator or can turn the narrator off if or until they need help with a particular word or words in the story. It's like having your very own audio book or Leap Frog Game. Drawbacks: $44 a year to subscribe and you are limited to the books they choose. Still, very clever and well-presented.

What Parents Need to Know
About OneMoreStory
Parents need to know that although kids younger than 5 can probably use this site with some simple pointing and clicking, we don't recommend having kids online who are under 4. This site acts as an online library filled with classic and contemporary children's books. The format encourages early readers to follow each word as it's read -- just click on a title and follow along as the pages turn. While kids may find the simple interface and slow pace to be perfect, parents may grow impatient. Also, the $40 annual subscription price is a bit steep for the amount of content offered.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about the issues raised by selected books, from separation anxiety in Owl Babies to the importance of staying true to one's self in Stellaluna, which features a baby bat who tries to fit into a bird family.
