What parents need to know

Parents need to know that the site has no advertising. The site takes some time to learn to use, so don't visit thinking you're going to have a quick look and listen.

What's it about?

The site was developed by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, which is UK-based but serves a worldwide audience of music educators. There are two tracks you can explore: the Browse Mode and the Journey Mode. Try the Journey Trail first to get the feel of the site. Click on "Journey Trail Forum" and then select a theme, like "Instruments." You can also look for articles by age group, length, or author. Keep following the trail so you don't miss anything. Choose the Browse Mode when you want to explore on your own. You can listen and watch video of several performances and click on the sounds of various instruments and vocals.

Is it any good?

The neat thing is that anyone can build a personal trail and save it for future use. Education professionals can make accounts as advanced users and create trails for others to follow.

The site takes some time to learn to use, so don't visit thinking you're going to have a quick look and listen. The site is aimed at high school-aged kids, although parents of younger children could preview the site to find sections that might be fun for younger kids to manipulate.
