Common Sense Note
Although the movie is PG, the website is for general audiences. There are several mentions of Patrick Star's lament, "Did you see my butt?" There are small sponsor icons from Burger King and Kellogg's, among others.
Common Sense Review
Reviewed By: Jean Armour Polly
The site offers a storyline for the movie, four movie trailers, some downloadable screensavers and buddy icons, and of course the requisite games.
There are two entertaining games, a 3-D game and the Bubble-Bustin' Game. The latter works on both PC and Macintosh computers, although play is extremely slow on the Mac platform (hint: if you want to get a high score, play on the Mac!). The object is to pop bubbles as they float from the bottom of the screen to the top. If the player doesn't pop the bubbles before then, SpongeBob gets increasingly happy, looking quite inebriated right before he reaches the "Freak Out" zone and gets tossed out of the "Thug Tug," back to the sands of Bikini Bottom. Play is zippy on a PC, so watch for those power-up bubbles to lend a hand.
The 3-D game works only on a PC (although they say a Mac version is coming soon.) It would not work with the Firefox browser but it liked Internet Explorer. The object of the game is to drive your dune buggy around Bikini Bottom, taking on quests as you go. As you succeed, more quests will open to you. You can change camera angles on the scene, look around you, and more. It is a sand pail of fun!
One more feature is a jukebox where you can hear, among other Top Pop hits with a mullet, er, bullet, Avril Lavigne singing the SpongeBob theme song.
