Parents need to know

Parents need to know that this site -- developed by the highly respected Nemours Foundation and regularly reviewed by health care professionals -- offers a great service. Teens are unlikely to get any misinformation here. Plus, parents may want to take a look themselves to see what teens are talking and worrying about. There are no ads.

Families can talk about finding a trustworthy site. How do you know where to go for accurate information? Why is it better to go to a reliable site than do a search and see what comes up? Families can also discuss some of the issues brought up on this site: depression, body image, and smoking.

What's the story?

Reviewed by Jean Armour Polly

You know all those topics that every teen wonders about and whispers about but no one is brave enough to actually ask a health care professional? Articles about all those issues, and a lot more, are available here. Check out recent "Hot Topics" and you'll find articles about drugs, cutting, suicide, eating disorders, and even answers to questions like, "Is my penis normal?" and "Am I still a virgin if I use a tampon?" Besides sexual health, teens can also find basic information on diseases, safety, and emotional health. Fitness, and its role in good health, is covered as well. Learn about kickboxing, weight lifting, and many other kinds of sports. There are even teen-friendly quick recipes.
